For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Ford Windsor engine swap
Hey guys. New to the forum. I've got an 84 944 and was curious if anyone has done a ford Windsor v8 swap to a 944. Looking for any and all info regarding this swap as I have a mildly built 302 looking for a good home. Obviously the trans will need to be replaced so it doesnt grenade, but mainly needing info on known fitment issues with the swap. Thanks guys

Re: Ford Windsor engine swap
Sorry, I haven't been around here a lot lately.
I've got a mostly stock 5.0 in mine. We used:
Bellhousing from a '67 Mercury Comet with a V8 and C4
Throwout bearing from a 2011 Mustang GT500
Clutch plate from a Dodge pickup I found by scouring Rock Auto
Adapter plate we designed and had machined (unfortunately can't find the drawings)
Pilot bearing adapter we made
Front accessory drive from an MN12 Thunderbird shortened by .200"
Custom water pump pulley to work with the shortened accessory brackets
Explorer timing cover
Explorer cam sync plug
Patriot-brand block hugger headers from Summit, right side as delivered, left side chopped and rerouted
Explorer lower intake
Fabbed upper intake
Modified universal radiator
Scratch-built mounts
Modified stock oil pan
Ford EDIS coils (first using an A9L and an EDIS module, now running an EEC-V from a '97 Crown Vic)
0-5V slot MAF (used in a whole bunch of Fords before, I think, 2005)
Fans from a 2002-ish Mercury Cougar
I'm sure there's other stuff we did, but that's just off the top of my head.
