Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

SOLD: LS1 Swapped 1985.5 944
It hurts to make this post but I'm selling my swapped 944. It's always been about the "challenge" or "project" for me and once I'm done with something I quickly loose interest. Having a newborn and many cash hungry projects around the house are also to blame.
Anyway, details on the car can be found in my build thread here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Quick specs:
-1985.5 944
-1999 LS1 out of a WS6 with 80k miles
-M030 sway bars
-250lb front springs
-28mm rear torsion bars
-Koni sports front and rear
-Turbo 9U trans (LSD, no cooler, NA 5th gear swap)
-TPC trans reinforcement plate
-Drilled & slotted rotors front rear
-Performance pads
-Euromeister 17x8 & 17x9 wheels
-Sumitomo HTR Z III's 225x45R front & 255x40R rear
-New ball joints & tie rod ends
-Re-manufactured steering rack
-Re-built calipers
-Custom aluminium 951 radiator
-Ford Hydroboost with original 944 master
-Power steering cooler
-Custom 3.5" intake
-LS6 intake manifold
-Walbro 255 fuel pump
-42lb injectors
-243 heads
-TSP 224R cam (.600/.600 with 114 LSA)
-PAC 1219 springs
-COMP Cams trunnion retrofit
-LS7 lifters & trays
-New oil pump
-New water pump
-New timing chain set
-New seals and gaskets all around
-New dash cover
-New speakers and head unit
-Custom 3" exhaust (sounds amazing without being obnoxious)
The swap has about 1,200 miles on it and I've only had two problems during that time. One was overheating due to a bad coolant reservoir cap and the other was a failed power steering rack due to a cheap rebuild. New cap has kept temps perfect even on hot days in traffic and the AutoZone steering rack was replaced with one rebuilt by RackDoctor.
What some might consider "cons"
-No A/C. I left the stock condenser installed with hopes of finishing the system last spring. I never got around to it and don't plan to. I will include the GM A/C compressor and bracket if you are interested in completing this.
-No windshield washer fluid system (took up too much space)
-Paint isn't in the greatest condition.
-Rear hatch glass needs resealed (like most 944's)
-Still needs an actual alignment. I did a home alignment and it works for now.
