HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Im a bit confused. The dimensions in the oil pan mod threads (XSchop) claim an 8.75 by 2.5 inch insert/slotting to the drivers side.

On my conversion, I measured the cut-out to be 5.75 by 2.5 inches.

Im thinking that Robs dimensions are for 944's using a power steering rack and that mine is shorter due to my manual steering rack???? I really dont want to weld in the patch piece just to find out later that it needs to in fact be 8.75 inches long to clear something I havent thought about. Embarassed Otherwise, I made the cut as seen above and installed the engine and it wass perfect. The drivers side steering rack mount and such fit into the cut I made quite nice and neatly.

So whats the dealy-o?

Info please! Thanks

Well...
It's not gonna rust...
Patience, Grasshoppa.

First, verify engine uprights and hood clearance MK. (Didn't you say the engine was "forced"? Also, have you trimmed the rack bosses?) It may mean an extra step or two, but if you move the engine with a modification to the uprights, you may have to redo the pan. AND...if the hood doesn't close, well, welcome to "The Hood"...

Let's cover everything...
Transaxle mount? OK? New?

.02, ching, ching.

I knew you'd come through. Very Happy

Grasshoppa? Im a guru damnit.....for both LT and LS (well, not really for LS yet) Laughing Laughing Laughing

Not concerned about the engines placement vertically at this point but just simply, why the 8.75 inch notch? But youre right inthat 'whats the measurement of the notch at forced/relaxed placement.'

I think Rob/other members see or forsee something I dont with this measurement.

Heres MichaelB's pan

EDIT!: Okay...Im stoopid. I think I found the answer. The notch is longer for PS racks! Theres some lines that need to clear! New question is, Do I ever plan on going back to PS?? Laughing Nah.

Yep, saw that back on PHB. I think that was his solution for the spacers?

Nice welds...
