For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

SBC conversion without hood scoop
Hey guys, picking up a really clean original 83 944 with a really beautiful lm52 blue color from the factory. The paint is in fantastic shape!. I haven't seen another car this color. That being said, I was wondering if there is an intake/carb/filter combination that fits without cutting a scoop. This is my first post, so any feedback would be appreciated.

Have you considered an LS or LT? The LS1 Camaro setup fits for sure. For SBC, I'm not sure. And that IS a beautiful color!

I am running a Tuned Port Injection intake from an 87 corvette and still had to cut the hood...so im sure standard carb and filter you'll need to. You can find the LT1 setup for around the same price and in my opinion is much much easier to swap.

Re: SBC conversion without hood scoop
i have done a few SBC swaps and have had to modify the hood on every one.
what i have done for every SBC swap is made cowl induction type hoods.
at the body lines in the stock hoods were it steps down ( in the center ) i cut at that step and and raze it to clear the intake.
IMO it's the best way to do a hood to clear the intakes and by inverting that section of the hood your still keeping the body lines the factory put in the hoods and looks better then just cutting a hole and putting a scoop that just looks like you added it in the hood.
the LS swap would be better i have done a few of them also but for me the SBC swaps i did i got the motors for free or so low cost it was worth doing them with a SBC motor i'm working on another SBC swap now for a track day car. at this point i'm pulling out all of the factory wiring and have a painless harness i'm putting in. the factory wires are old and brittle plus with the SBC carbureted motor most of the factory wires are not needed so for the 500$ of the painless wiring it's worth it for me.
