For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Replacing Rear Rotors Empty Replacing Rear Rotors

Post  mred2nice on Sun Mar 31, 2019 12:37 pm

Hello Everyone

Hopefully you can help. I am trying to replace the rear rotors on my 1983 944. I have the caliper off and I am unable to pull the rotor off. I saw a vid about sticking a screwdriver thru a hole in the rotor to relieve the drag that may be created by the parking brake. Unfortunately, I do not have that hole in my rotor. But, each side turns so perhaps it is not the parking brake. I have tried using a weighted hard plastic hammer to try hitting the rotor to free it but nothing.

What am I missing here? Is there something special I need to do to get the rear rotors off?

Thanks,
Ed

rotors have a way of rusting to the hub. Make sure ebarake is loose as that can be a pain to loosen off then just work at it.

Yup, release that e-brake! I can't tell you how long I banged on my rotors before figuring it out.

I finally got them off. Had to use the jacking hole bolt thing. The ebrake is frozen though. While it is apart I am gonna see about getting replacement parts and cables.
