For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

Hi everybody. I'm going to be moving soon and, while I hate to sell my car, I wanted to see if there's interest in this as it stands. It used to have an 87 Buick Grand National engine but I sold that and went with the Series II supercharged engine. The engine was removed from a running car (98 Grand Prix GTP) so I have all the wiring and accessories such as the alternator, etc. I have quite a lot of new oem parts and performance parts I have been gathering over the past year. I have two exhaust systems for it but they need some welding done (one came from the Grand National engine and the other is from a 3800 turbo Camaro). Right now, my best option is to trade for a car or truck so please let me know what you have. I may consider other items and cash offers. I'm likely going to just keep it and finish it when I move but thought I'd post it and see if someone's in the market for a 3800 turbo (or twin turbo/twin-charged) conversion car. I'll post more info soon. I'm in Las Vegas. Thanks

Re: 1987 944S 3800 L67 Turbo...in progress
This car already had a Grand National conversion done to it which I drove for several years so all of the modifications have been done such as the steering shaft, aligning the engine far back enough to mate with the torque tube shaft, etc. I have about $9,500 into it so far. Right now, my best option is to trade for a vehicle worth a few thousand less than what I have into it. I also have an air compressor, engine crane, engine stand, etc for the right trade. I might also consider trading or selling the car with less 3800 items included which I might use for a future vehicle. It's such a great engine. As for cash deals, I'd say about $4900 with everything I have listed in the previous post.

Hi - where is the car located? Is it currently running? If I read correctly the L67 from the Grand Prix is what is in it now? But the turbos are connected or available as parts?

Re: 1987 944S 3800 L67 Turbo...in progress
Hi. The car is in Las Vegas. The L67 engine has been fitted in the engine bay (almost the same engine as the Grand National 3.8 that was removed) but the cam, timing chain and other components need to be installed. I'm going to leave the rest of the long block alone since it has low miles and great compression numbers. I've been mulling over which cam to put in. The cam in the photos is similar to a Stattama ST2 Turbo cam but someone else might want to go bigger so I haven't installed it yet. When it's finished, it will look similar to the Grand National engine from before that's in the photos but will have more power, reliability and more available mods. It currently needs the headers welded. The Grand National headers from the car have slightly different port locations so have to be welded to the 3800 exhaust flanges. It actually has two different exhaust systems included and all the piping needed. I am going to include the supercharger and both turbos so you'll have the option of going supercharged, twin-charged, turbo or twin-turbo.

Re: 1987 944S 3800 L67 Turbo...in progress
Do you have enough of the car's history to know if it was originally sold/titled in California?
Have you done any work to the suspension, transaxle or other major sub-systems? If so can you summarize?

Re: 1987 944S 3800 L67 Turbo...in progress
I have about all of the receipts and manuals since it was new. Sorry, not from CA (GA, MI, NV). Those smog inspections suck in CA. Funny that I have two neighbors here in Vegas who, I noticed, have had their cars registered in CA for over two years. Too bad you can't do the same thing in CA and keep yours registered elsewhere like they do. Nothing done to the suspension. The synchros in the transaxle have about 60k miles on them. The crossmember that the engine is mounted on is a one-piece custom built unit, though.

Re: 1987 944S 3800 L67 Turbo...in progress
Rats! As you probably guessed - the non-Calif version means I can't/shouldn't get interested in the whole vehicle. I might be interested in your L67 parts though. I will PM you my contact info in case you want to explore that option.
