For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Coolant / header tank cap
Hi
I'm having a problem with the water temeperature. It is fine when going along but when sitting at lights or in traffic it rises to half way up the gauge. It normally sits at about a quarter.
I have seen various information about overflow tank cap pressure and I wondered what evryone else is using. Please post and let me know? I have the standard 944 turbo header tank and a new cap. I believe the Corvette and the 944 use different pressure caps.
Engine is a '95 Corvette LT1 producing 285bhp.
Thanx

Re: Coolant / header tank cap
That sounds normal. Mine does that. Normal operating temps should be around 190ish which is about half or a little above.

Re: Coolant / header tank cap
Hi Arthropraxis, thanks for the reply. However mine throws out the coolant as well and it can be litres!
There is no mayonnaise inside the oil filler cap, no water in the oil, no water emitted from the exhaust and no exhaust gases ion the coolant. I have a new thermostat, the water pump is rotating, the radiator has only done a few miles and i also have a new expansion tank cap.
But something is pressuring the coolant system to force the water out?
All comments welcome.
Thanx
