HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Has anyone seen this?

Looks like it may make the ls series swaps even easier. Any thoughts?

Several people use one. It is necessary if you need a scatter shield for racing series regulations.

That's what I'm using. I wanted it for a few reasons...

#1 It has a scatter shield, and I plan on running at Bonneville at some point and a scatter shield is necessary to run there.

#2 It's a direct bolt in, no need for an adapter plate.

Reason #1 is a personal thing with me, most people don't need a scatter shield, but this is my track car and it's a nice thing to have.

Reason #2 is definitely arguable, but I like as much direct bolt together stuff as possible, it just makes one less thing to fail. Particularly a custom machined part that you can't just find anywhere...

The one thing I do regret about it is it's not a 2 piece design, so access to the clutch still totally sucks and it's not aluminum like the C5 piece, so it probably weighs 15-20 lbs more.

I seem to recall seeing a C5 2 piece aluminum bell housing that comes with an integrated scatter shield. I wasn't aware of it when my swap was happening, if I'd seen it then I probably would've gone with it as it has everything I want except the direct fitment.

Yep Doc.. I agree with it all. DO you know where I can find what you were talking about at the bottom there? 2 piece aluminum/integral scatter?

Check out my thread on rennlist in the 844 Turbo-Turbo S section. I think TonyG lists the part #'s of them.

You'll have to use a custom machined adapter with it though. So you'll get the weight advantage, scatter shield and 2 piece design, but not the direct bolt on...

I might just use this piece. looks simple enough. I found some bad ass used triple plate mcleod clutch for sale. BUT.. I just remembered that the clutch discs need to match ford style spline we have on our drive shaft..... ugh..... ........... I don't want to let that cool part go! lol..

It also says that you can use a fork to disengage the clutch with this housing.. Anyone use this method?! i don't think I like the current way. more complicated and expensive. Simplicity makes me happy. well, cheaper too.

I realize I'm bringing back a super old thread, but what slave cylinder are QuickTime BH users going with? I've done a search and I can't seem to find any info.

I'm with Tim on this, sorry for bringing up an old thread but the info still doesn't seem to be out there. I just got a QuickTime BH and am trying to figure out the slave/TO bearing setup everyone is using. Thanks for any info you guys have.

You have to use a bearing retainer from a T10 transmission and then you can use the RAM throw out bearing.

Thanks for the info! Parts ordered. On a side note, I put the engine in just to test fit everything over the weekend and it all fits perfect! My hat is off to Eric for making some awesome parts, I took pics and am going to start a build thread pretty soon.

Do you have part numbers for the retainer and throw-out bearing?
