HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

A guy i know is writing a book on LS motor swaps into various chassis. I've talked with him on other forums before, and seems interested in our swaps. One of the questions he asked was where to buy parts...

I know how some of us feel about RH, but they do have parts on the shelf ready to go, so they'll be in the list. 944hybrids has a few of the necessary parts. Are there any other sources of parts that i should be aware of? I know there have been a few mentioned, but they seem to come and go...

Greg, i'll mention your manual to him. Do you have a permanent address to a place to buy the manual? If not...GET ONE! Razz (What i mean is, since this will be an actual published book, "It's out there, go look for it" is not as reasonable as one would think). This would also be a good time to get headers and bellhousings and motor mounts up if you want them included in the book...

The author's name is Joseph Potak, he's already been published:

He works at Texas Speed & Performance. I'll point him to this site and hybrid9s for more information, so he might end up bugging some of you for photos!

Thanks Chris,

FYI, I already have a copyright on the manual (mine), but no ISBN number. I can obtain an ISBN easily, and I'm sure Eric wouldn't mind a link on his site (944hybrids.com).

As far as Potak goes, he can contact me directly...

I'm easy to deal with until I get stepped on (for instance, the Crests listed on eBay...), and I don't mind sharing info, obviously. But, the manual has been finalized already, copyrighted, and waiting for an ISBN number.

Why have two?

I'm not saying someone else won't produce a better manual, but I don't see how it can be said any differently. I am willing to incorporate any useful information from any reliable source, so maybe you and Joseph could call me for a discussion on this.

Working together is what got the Conversion this far, and I am open to all reasonable suggestions. I'm not, however, ready to turn over all of my hard work...

Greg

No, i don't think that's what this is at all.
The point of the book is to show the various cars that the LS motors have been swapped in to, a basic list of the parts needed, and where to get more detailed information.
He's certainly not looking to write a manual as you have. I was actually suggesting that your manual could be referenced in the book as a place to get MUCH more detailed information. But in order to do that, it would be better if it were listed on the website for sale rather than the occasional ebay auction.

He mentioned that he's re-doing a '67 Camaro with an LS2 and a '69 Camaro with an dry-sump LS7. I think Nissan 240's and RX-7's will also get a write-up, and probably a lot more that i don't know about.

The book, i think, will be more of a "i love the horsepower of the LS motors and the fact that i can actually work on them...but i don't want a Camaro or a Corvette. What are my other options?" type of book.

I don't think it's a threat of any kind to the hard work you've done Smile

Anyways, i will pass your info along!

OK,
I didn't fully understand the intention.

As far as a permanent site...
Working on that, looking @ register.com, etc.

Do you have complete contact info for him?
I'll gladly share info if it will help promote the 944 Conversion.

PM the info if you want...

Thanks,
Greg

Renegade does have a site link in the manual, as well as 944hybrids.

Other than individuals machining and selling parts, there is not (unfortunately) a "business" alternative to RH as of late. Hence the reasons for the detailed parts drawings...

Yeah, that's kind of what i was wondering. However i think 944hybrids.com is worth mentioning because you do have the pilot bearing adapters, the motor mounts, and the c5 adapter plate (though not posted). That's enough to get the average person started in the right direction.

I sent him your contact information, so i'll leave it up to him to get in touch with you. The books are just a side project for him, this won't go live for a while i would imagine.

Here you go, Chris...

I have set up a site dedicated to ONLY The Porsche®️ 944 V8 Conversion Manual.
A PayPal link is provided at the bottom of the page, with pricing and shipping info.

The site is very simplistic, but it works.
Best of all, it was FREE. I have hosted my artwork on another free Google site for over a year, glitch-free.

Check it out...
