HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I'm in the process of moving over a 944 suspension into a 924 and need to know where they mash up is. the front end I don't think is too big of an issue, but the rear end might be. Body/Fenders aside,.. I am trying to figure out how to physically bolt the 944 to the 924 body.

Can anyone help understand this project?

There are others here who will have much better information that I can provide. If I am recalling correctly, it will depend quite a bit on which years of both 924 and 944 you are working with. I seem to remember the later 924S cars already having most of the comparable base 944 drive line. With the 944 there are early and late cars and possibly some additional differences depending on model.

Not sure if any of that helps, but hopefully other who are more aware of the details will chime in.

Hey thanks for the reply. I went through and matched up the part numbers. I have a 76 924 and an 83 944, so looks like they will for the most part bolt right on. The only odd ball that may require welding is the rear sway bar. I have to use the 924 torsion housing and the 924 never came with a rear sway bar. the front end already has 944 control arms so all is good there.

The next thing is,.. I'm trying to find the easiest way to drop the 944 engine out of the shell. Ideally I'd like to drop the engine down on to floor dollies and wheel it into the corner of my garage until I get to cleaning it up. If I remove the TT, and support the 944 engine from up top then unbolt the cross member,.. will it just lower to the ground to the dolly I speak of?

Hey, i have a 78 924 that i have installed 91 S2 suspension front and back. Bolts right in. Wheel offset will change but thats it. I used my new steel front arms not the alum. My 78 came with both front and rear sway bars. No welding required. All these cars run the exact same chassis, just body changes, heat etc.

Well Technically I have the 1976 Body, the notches where the bushings would mount on the Torsion housing just don't exist on this car, I wish they did, would make life much easier.
