HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Engine conversion with tiptronic transmission.
Hello to all Porsche friends.
My name is Henk from the Netherlands and iam new here.
I need some information.
I have a 1981 924 for severall years now, i bought this 924 for only 300 euro's
The car had a blown engine and minnor fire damage at that moment.
My plan was to modify the 924 with a 944 II interieur because thats looks match more solid and modern.
That was easyer said than done, but i managed to transform the 924 to a match better looking car.
I also installed all the 944 suspension, engine and transmission and wire loom.
After about a year of driving with the 924 the engine seems to be old and tired...so i found a 944S II engine complete with torque tube and transmission.
After my modifications the engine and transmission swap was no problem.
The drives very well and with little problems for view years now

Re: Engine conversion with tiptronic transmission.
But i always like to try new thinks all the time.
So my last plan is to install a 968 tiptronic transmission to create a unique 924.
Before installing the tiptronic transmission i had to modify the rear chassis crossmember, i cutted the old welded crossmember out and made new mounting points for the new alluminium crossmember.
I also installed the 986 plastic fuel tank.
The 944SII engine recieved the flywheel and rubber damper, torque tube and tiptronic transmission.
I also made new tubing for oil cooling/warming through the radiator.
Everything is now installed under the 924 and it fits all ok
Now the last step is the elektrical part what gives some problems
Most signals from the engine i can get from the 944SII engine, like rpm and load signal and i also installed an extra potensialmeter on the throttlevalve to create 1-10V signal for the tip-ecu.
My question is about the ignition adjustment that the tiptronic ecu gives to the engine????
I red several stories about engine swaps in the usa, is there anybody how did that with a tiptronic car and can help me to hook up the wiring???
If the tiptronic recieves the wrong signals it will switch to an emergengy mode and will never work manual
Re: Engine conversion with tiptronic transmission.
So please let me know if you have experience with that.
Thanks allready
