For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Tilton Dual MC Setup TIL72-650
"The shiznit..." and $10 cheaper...Also, I'll copy the MC info over here...
The LS430 4 x 42mm pistons have slightly more (8sq. mm) than the 996 / GT3 (Big Reds). The GT3 master cylinder has a 25.4mm (1.0") front circuit bore. The GT3 rear piston surface area comes in at 116sq. mm, the SAME as the FRONT 944 Turbo (which may be moved to the rear).

NOW...the GT3 rear MC circuit uses a 25.4mm (1.0") bore, BUT the 944T front circuit is supplied by a meager .75" piston bore.

I would use a 1" bore MC for the front, and a .75" bore MC on the rear circuit.

Here's the chart...Tilton Dual MC Setup V2t710

Got specs / piston sizes / rotors ? for the rear LS430? If so, we can size the rear master, stick a fork in this pig and call it a day...

I was actually thinking the same Front LS430 calipers on the rear of the 944.
But now that you mention it, I will look into the rear LS430 specs, They are Dual piston 2 x 42mm.......Do remember, they are half $ what the front LS430's were running.....

I wonder what rear rotor we would have to go with?

Yea, NO. The front turbo brakes are trackable on a turbo car with some quality pads...they should be awesome on the rear. The Big Reds kits use them on the rear with nary a peep.

If you don't have a turbo car to begin with, disregard the above comments...BUT, the LS430 rears are freakin' monstaaazzz!

Monstazz
Looks like the LS430 rear 2x42 calipers are about the same $ as the front 4x42mm calps!!!
if we stick the 4x42mm on the rear of the 944 NA, will the 87-up Turbo rear 300mm rotors fit the NA's. This info I don't know.....Holla Back Yo

Tilton Dual MC Setup Empty The Schiznit

Post  xschop Wed Jun 24, 2009 1:16 pm

Setting the pushrod directly in center while mounting Dual MC housing on it's side puts the master cylinders over almost an inch away from the valve cover.....
Tilton Dual MC Setup Image020

Bracket design to mount to firewall will be a joke....
Tilton Dual MC Setup DualMC

And the smooth operator that makes the pushrod setup hassle-free (hopefully) is the Heim-joint connection on the 1:1 cam design with built-in balance bar (set in with pillow ball joint in center)....

Tilton Dual MC Setup Empty MC sizing...

Post  gt1scca Mon Jul 06, 2009 3:20 am

When sizing master cylinders for the Tilton dual MC setup, pedal ratio is a major part of the equation. I had thought the 944 stock ratio was 5:1...until I got the dims from an actual pedal.

Here's the results...

Tilton Dual MC Setup 944_br10

The stock MC pushrod location = 4.25:1 ratio.
The .75" higher modified location (used in the booster delete / single manual MC setup) = 6:1 ratio.

Tilton Dual MC Setup Empty Tilton Dual Housing for 944

Post  xschop Fri Jul 24, 2009 12:09 pm

Got alot of R&D time in on this one. I will be machining these from T-6061 and then Tig welding to the 1/4" billet plates I traced from the cereal bowl.
The 5/16" diameter hole bolts directly to the driver's side bolt hole on the firewall. Depending on the Hooker 2312 headers Johnny Johnny modded up, the bolt hole can be drilled upwards if need with this design to allow for more clearance. The Heim joint on the Dual MC bracket allows for this without any pushrod binding....

so this bracket will be welded to a plate that bolts to the fire wall, we just get the tilton bracket, master cylinders and remote reservoir stuff?
I take it there will be an alternate MC suggestion for those with 951 rear calipers Laughing

Laughing the markup is incredible, I wonder if they tack the word 'billet' on there if theyll raise the price for me. why would you need to adjust the bias from inside the car anyway?

Tilton Dual MC Setup Empty False advertising

Post  xschop Tue Jul 28, 2009 7:21 am

Tilton couldn't mark their Dual MC housings "Billet" because they are made from cast aluminum. I made the firewall plates from 1/4" Billet t-6061 and will make the bracket holders from the same alloy to get the correct welding properties and strength from an all 1/4" design. Will save a few pounds compared to steel material.

any thoughts on sealing the hole around the push rod, lots of funky gasses in that area of the engine bay... how is this normally done without the brake booster?
