HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Considering LT swap, need dvice
My question is this. With the LT swap being an older swap, and with the prevalence of LS swaps, how much of the swap parts are still available? Renegade shows to have discontinued there bellhousing.
I have a brand new 400hp, in a '95 Trans Am project, I'm no longer interested in, and have always liked the 944, sounds sounds like good way to put the LT1 from the TA to use.

I think you're going to have a hard time sourcing parts for the swap. You might be better off selling the engine you have and buy an LS. There are still a lot of Camaro and Firebird owners that use the original type engine, so you should be able to sell it fairly quickly.
With that said, contact Kent at Texas Performance Concepts and see if he has any LT swap parts leftover.

I think the bell housing from the ls will bolt to the lt1 (I think all but one bolt you'd have to double check). So you should be able to use the adapter plate and bell housing from the ls. Im not sure what youd use for a throwout bearing though, as i think the crank sticks out a little further than the ls. You would have to get motor mounts for the lt1 motor, I think they're a little different. Call Texas performance concepts, I'm sure they can still make them.
Since you already have a rebuilt lt1. You should look into the torquehead 24x conversion. It let's you use the ls1 computer to control the motor [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The LS kit would work for the LTx engine. For example, with the LS engine, the kit will come with engine mount plates that set the mounts to the same point as the LT and Gen1 blocks anyway. You will have to use the GM 12554980 bellhousing and an internal throwout bearing. Of course the oil pan will have to be modified but you may easily source that out.
TPC should set you on the right path.
