For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

944 Rim options?
Hello Guys,
I am looking for some Rims and I have been struggling to find stuff. 1983 944
I don't want them to cost more than the car is worth!
I would like black, 17 or 18 if possible.
As wide as I can stuff in there with out loosing performance.
Keep weight respectable.
etc.
Please help with ideas. Thanks

Lots of 17" Boxster wheels on EBAY for cheap. Not sure about an '83, but on my '87, 17's w/pilot sport 255's rear and 205's front fit and perform great. After powder coating them black they look great too-

Re: 944 Rim options?
keep in mind with wheels off a late model car wont fit on an early 944 (83-86) without fairly wide spacers.

Re: 944 Rim options?
I would rather not use large wheel spacers if I don't have to. There has got to be some rim options out there!
If I can't find rims to fit does anyone know the best hubcentric wheel adapters that are a high quality product?

Re: 944 Rim options?
I got a set of Borbet replica cup wheels 17x7.5 and 17x9 for a sweet deal off craigslist. They are early offset, and look great on my 86 n/a.
I've been trying to look for another set for track wheels, so I'll be really interested to hear about good deals on early offset wheels.

I like those, I wonder how they would fit on a 1983?

Re: 944 Rim options?
they would require spacers on an 83. 87+ 944 cars had a wider suspension width, that resulted in a higher offset wheel being needed.

Re: 944 Rim options?
A wide body wheel like a 40mm offset 10x18 fits without spacers on the rear. With a .09" rotor spacer you can use 330mm rear rotors with the narrow offset hubs and keep the park brake. I don't think there's a wide body front wheel you can use without a spacer unless you use a rear on the front.
I'll be running wide offset suspension on the front.
