HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

The next thing I was going to do is send the pcm out to get reprogrammed. I looked up pcm4less.com and lt1swap.com. Lt1swap.com will do it for 75$ and pcm4less will do it for 190$. Whats the different options I should do, and should I run a vss sensor. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I sent mine to Brendan (lt1swap.com) for the $75. He is great to work with and will do anything you need to the pcm to get the car running outside of actual tuning of spark and fuel. As for VSS, definitely run it. There are way too many calculations that are tied into VSS and deleting it can easily kill driveability and gas mileage.

I just got mine done by tunedbyfrost.com Very easy to work with and has great reputation on LS1tech.com. Granted, my motor isn't even in the car.

Yeah, mine is not in the car either, so I have no clue.

You can't argue for $75 though. My plan is to get the car running and wait for someone to sell their EFILive/HPtuners setup. I've seen used ones with 1-2 left over licenses go for $250.

Ah, didn't pick up on the LT1. In that case, it's all chip based. There should be plenty of tuning options for the chip.

On a 94 it's not chip based, it is programmed in the computer through the data port or on the bench.
Does anyone have the password for Tuner CATS . It can be used for that job on an OBD1 computer.

That's right. It started in 94 for the PCMs. I'm used to every other car make who had standards outside of the goofy ALDL. tongue

I was planning on using Tuner CATS. Costs a little more starting out, (around $150 for the software and cable IIRC) but I'd have the option to go back and change anything I want to whenever I change/upgrade the engine. Kinda like re-jetting your carb...from a laptop.

I realize this thread is 6 years old, but is Brendan@LT1 still doing PCM programming?

And any current recommendations?

Here's his website. Looks to be current. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

He's still doing it. I got my PCM back about 3 weeks ago. Still a few parts from first start (maybe 2 weeks) but his turn around time was great!

Has anyone had contact with [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] recently?
or have a phone number for him?

I sent my PCM to him and PayPal'd him $ as per the instructions on his website.
Tracking says he received the PCM this Monday.

But I haven't heard from him at all, despite sending him a few emails asking for confirmation that he received the PCM and money.

His reviews/reputation seem pretty stellar, so I'm trying to be patient, but I'm getting concerned that I sent the PCM & $ into a black hole.

Any info appreciated-

Jason, I went through Brendan when I did my ECM a while back and had similar communication issues. I'm not sure about posting phone number on here, but if you look up the shipping address on Google Maps it shows a business called EFI Solutions.  Click that map link and there's a phone number shown.

I spoke to Brendan at the time and he said then that he was behind on emails, and put actual programming jobs ahead of trying to get them caught up, so maybe that's still the case.

UPDATE- I heard from Brandon, and received my PCM with a new tune ONE day after discussing some options with him. So yeah, don't expect to hear from him until your PCM is on his workbench. He said he gets 100 PCM's a day!

In the end I'm super happy with his service and recommend him 100%
