For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I came across this the other day... Looks like a very simple upgrade to get rid of the optispark and upgrade to the LS1 computer!
I'll probably go this route if my optispark starts given me trouble, cause my motor is fully built and it's already in the car...

Re: LT1 24x conversion
I would have loved to have that a few years ago when I was running LT engines. I hate optispark.

Re: LT1 24x conversion
I had 3 different Camaros. A 94, a 95, and a 97. The 94 and 97 never had a problem. The 95 would pop the optispark every 4-6 months. Was replaced under warranty 3 times. Got lucky with it when the car caught fire and burned to ground one night. Totally bone stock all original car. It was a POS. 1 1/2 years old and 15000 miles.

Ya, I've heard a ton of horror stories about them; and a replacement now a days is just a re-manufactured unit which makes this conversion make a lot of sense...

Re: LT1 24x conversion
ya, ive read about that one too; its been around for awhile. The torquehead version just came out.
The torquehead version doesn't require a new timing cover or new wiring harness which makes it a lot easier. The unit just bolts into the old optispark area and the 24 tooth reluctor is part of the hub. They also modified a LS computer so the LT1 wiring harness will plug right in.
You can also buy the optispark replacement / hub separately and modify your own harness.
