For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I'm selling the spare shifter I designed a few weeks back, same Teflon lined spherical as the one I modded and installed on my transaxle.....and 30% throw reduction lateral and forward. I designed the heim joint threading on the steel block to make it rebuildable even. Just screw in and lock-tite the heim........First $175 takes it and that'll include USPS Priority shipping anywhere in the US-48....Just PM

I got feedback from the first person I sent a modded Short-Shifter to using the Teflon-Heim and I've decided I am going to make these using all new construction using High Misalignment heim spacers even. I'm working out the shaft clamp to have a dog-bone shape so they'll be no mistaking that it's my design. Very Happy

I have everything but a C5 2-piece BH. I'm churning out more C5 adapter plates as well. I also have 2 Wilwood caliper-Cayenne Rotor brake adapter kits left and 2 Late style billet-poly trans mounts at the moment.

this is a pic of the lockheed billet dual master setup on my 993 tube chassis car. incidentally its one stacked on top of the other like we need in the 944. i turned the camera for the pic so you could see the lockheed script.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
and before anyone comments the car in the pic hasnt been in use for several years, ie the cracks in the brake hoses etc..

Yeah, my shifter looked like that, all rusted over with the plastic bushing warped. Talk about breaking my arm trying to force it into anything but 3rd and 4th. Razz

Oh, and check your bolt selection for the linkage. I do believe that needs to be used with the long rod, not the linkage piece to the transaxle.

I'm lost on what you mean about the bolt selection, long rod, and linkage piece. Please explain as I am new to this Porsche side of things.

Look at your first picture with the original linkage and then your last two pictures. Rusted bolt vs new looking silver bolt with hole in it.

robstah,

Thank-you, I understand what you are saying now.

I did notice the difference in the bolt head configuration but the thread is the same for both of them. The shaped point on the end of the bolts are also the same and fit the indent in the shifter shaft securely. Shouldn't be a problem and yes I do have one for the long shift rod also and it is the same with having a hole in the head. Parts, parts, parts, never know when I am getting the right ones to go in the right places.

Again thanks for the info. I'll take all the help and suggestions I can get. Very Happy

A real short shifter.... Empty Drilled bolt

Post  fliermike45 Tue Aug 23, 2011 7:43 am

The bolt with the drilled head should be used in the long shifter rod linkage.
It's drilled so that it can be safety wired.

Use Blue Loc-Tite, and the bolt with the larger drilled head (12mm hex) goes in the long shifter rod. Although the trans lever has the same M8 x 1.25 threading, I believe Porsche put the smaller head (10mm Hex) there because it could be removed with a wrench easier.

I just finished a batch of new shifters. All cnc'd parts, new thicker uprights and light weight billet aluminum throw arm. They are rebuildable, however I will guarantee them for life.
