HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

What's the verdict: Transmission triangulation brace Empty What's the verdict: Transmission triangulation brace

Hi guys,

Now that some years have passed since the initial discussions surrounding the need for a triangulation brace (to help prevent the trans from torquing along its axis), I'm curious what the verdict is.

I will be heading down to VIR this weekend and have been thinking about building a simple brace -- have a number of places it could bolt to.  That said, I've also heard of folks complaining of poor shifting and increased propensity for blowing axles.

Obviously this is a conversation involving "where do I want the fuse to be" but I'm primarily interested in how this brace may be preventing wear on the transmission itself.

As a point of reference, the car has a stiff suspension, radial slicks (albeit thin, 255-section) and solid trans/motor mounts.

Was able to shake the car down this past weekend (with just the solid mounts and no triangulation brace) and it feels fantastic.  Shifts are perfect, car felt terrific.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Have never blown an axle. I think most of the poor shifting comes from having a worn torque tube, where the nub enters the pilot bearing...

I don't have any tranny bracing, all stock.

Thanks Doc -- I think I'm going to keep just the solid mounts for now without going so far as to brace. Have heard of enough problems that it doesn't sound like the brace is worth it.

Mine is now solid mounted and has a brace (just in case).
