For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

How well does the 4L60 or t56 fit the 924 (specifically a 87) with a 5.3L do you have to graft the floor pan?

generally a T-56 swap people use the C5 Transaxle setup. I would think that any trans behind the engine, you would be doing some tunnel modifications.

See I just don't know anything about that stuff. Do I have to take the floor pan completely out or what? I'm trying to make a old $#** lookin sleeper so I don't really want to throw to much money into it

The only folks I see attempting 'what is takes' either have extraordinary fabricating skills or an extraordinary bank account.

And I have neither so Is there's different tranny that wouldn't take that but will still hold some horsepower?

I have a solid year on my stock 944 N/A trans with my 5.3L and it is showing no issues. Granted I drive it about twice a month, but when I do its either auto-x or hard street driving.

Many people upgrade to the later model turbo transmissions.

I was trying to go 5.3 with a big cam and a 200 shot but idk about that anymore. So what did you need for the 944 tranny to bolt into the 924 and up to the 5.3?

I purchased the torque tube adapter and the c5 bellhousing and it bolted right on.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has contemplated this.

I've decided that I'm going to be building up my 5.3 and putting it in connected to the stock tranny and transaxle. While I'm driving it around, I'll be putting together the parts for a T56 and a C5 transaxle. Once the stock stuff gives out or blows up, I'll be doing the swap.

At least that's the plan and we all know how well those turn out. lol

My 944 is getting a turbo 400. Yes you will need to modify the tunnel, but only do it for the purpose of wanting to make big power. I am boosting my setup so I'm having my tunnel modified for the 400/4l60. Decide what your plans are first then go from there.
