HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LS-460 Big Brake kit
I need a show of hands from anyone that would like a set of adapters to install Larger LS460 calipers and Cayenne 330mm rotors on EITHER 951 spindles or 87-up NA spindles.
Price will be $225 shipped US-48 and will come with Cayenne rotor centering rings.
These are 4-piston (43mm x 2) same as LS430 but larger pads and bodies to fit larger rotors.

Re: LS-460 Big Brake kit
Do these have any cross-fit with the various 928 spindles? My '79 is a non-S and I'll be looking to upgrade the brakes on it eventually to go with the additional power and 10" square wheel set-up.

Re: LS-460 Big Brake kit
These could be easily mounted to an Early 928 spindle with 76mm thru-hole or the 108mm thru-hole "S" as well...

I am also slightly interested in this. I still wonder if I should go with these or the Integra setup.

I am interested in upgrading the brakes on my 1989 na 944 since I am about to swap a LS2 into it. Can't PM yet, but would like to upgrade at a reasonable cost. Is this the way to go or do you suggest another swap? Thanks

Re: LS-460 Big Brake kit
I made a couple sets of these adapters on a hand mill. I didnt get enough interest in them to make a cnc run.
These are VERY good brake calipers as they have the same piston sizes as LS430 calipers but are larger and take a larger pad and can accept either a 330mm or 350mm rotor.
The axial mounts allow for adapters that fit the NA or 951 spindles as well....

I am just looking for an economical brake upgrade. Both initial investment and pad replacement. Can you give some advice? 1989 944 with LS conversion?

Look no further than pic above. These are massive monoblocks and can be found at salvage. I may have located another pair locally. Toyota/Lexus salvage usually have the newer models from insurance buyouts.

Re: LS-460 Big Brake kit
So what all would I need to make this change beside the adapters? And what would you sell a pair for? New to the 944 so not sure what all needs to be swapped out? Rotors, spindles, any special centering rings? And would these work front and back or do I just use stick on back? Thanks. Lee

Re: LS-460 Big Brake kit
Im not making the adapters anytime soon. But you can find the Cayenne rotor centering ring drawing I posted and make the brake adapters yourself with .75 x 1.5" stock. They just require flat-bar with thru- holes. I may have the original crude adapter at the shop somewhere for dimensions.
Just run factory rears on the street or install rear 951 calipers/rotors for an easy upgrade.

Re: LS-460 Big Brake kit
Just so I am clear, I use the cayenne rotors and centering rings with the LS-460 calipers? Any size rotor or is there just one? Thanks. Lee

Re: LS-460 Big Brake kit
Whats another plus for these calipers is that they can take either the 350 or 330 cayenne rotors.

Rob,
Cannot find where you posted about the centering rings, do you have a pair for sale or could you direct me to the post?

Re: LS-460 Big Brake kit
Rob,
Last 2 questions, any way I could buy a set of the rings from you next time you make a run? And any special bar stick for the adapter plate or is it just regular steel bar stock?
Thanks again,
Lee

I realize this thread is several years old. Does anyone know of a source for these Cayenne rotor centering rings?

Do you know if the cayenne 330 rotor and ls460 caliper will fit with a 17” rim?

I can't answer this authoritatively, but I was curious and held a 17" Boxster wheel in place over a friend of mine's Audi Q7 330mm rear brakes, and it appeared to have plenty of clearance.
That said, it isn't authoritative since the larger hub center means I couldn't actually seat it fully, and the LS460 caliper might be bulkier than the Cayenne/Q7 rear caliper.

Re: LS-460 Big Brake kit
I have the centering rings, but not the caliper mounts. If you have dimensions, I can make the mounts no problem.
