HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

another alternator thread
so i got my ecotec swap fired up today, and its not charging. the alternator on it is a gm cs130d with the 4 pin plug that has terminals labeled S F L P.
so from factory this alternator was wired to the pcm, using pins F and L, the other 2 pins arent used. now from what ive read the voltage regulator in this alternator is no different than a cs130d thats not pcm controlled, and can be wired like any cs130 or cs130d. the info i find is as follows
S- voltage sensing terminal, hook to the main power distribution is ideal, however not absolutley needed and when not used the alternator senses voltage internally based off the output stud
F- field output, used for computer sensing
L- exciter wire from charge lamp, or use resistor
P- output for tach or hour meter, not usually used.
so basicly everything i read says i only need to hook up the L terminal. i have it hooked up to the alternator wire on the 2 pin plug (the one with the starter wire with it). ive confirmed i have voltage on this wire with the key on.
so can anyone see any issues? does the 944 charge light not drop the voltage down enough for the alternator? was thinking of trying the resistor mod, however id prefer a functioning charge light.
any thoughts?

Re: another alternator thread
When I was using this alternator (cs130) I had it hooked up like this:

Here's another drawing that may help (cs130D):

Re: another alternator thread
ill try hooking up the voltage sense circuit if i cant get it to work with the resistor on the lamp circuit. technically this alternator shouldnt need it as it never used it from factory, although i guess its worth a shot

Re: another alternator thread
had another look, the cant hook the sense wire up, there isnt a pin for it. only have pins in the F and L location. played around with the resistors, no luck. gonna grab another alternator tomorrow.
