HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Not enough room for a vacuum brake booster in the normal spot. You have a few choices, hydroboost or dual master cylinder being the most utilized.

As lemming said above, there a couple of options. Power and Manual.

There are power brakes, available using a Hydro boost systems. There are several options here and you can research them on the forum as there has been significant discussions on them.

Most popular options (IMO to be corrected I am sure) are the 2004 Ford Mustang Hydro Boost and master cylinder set up. Lots of support for that.

BMW Hydro Boost system. Popular with many people on the forum.

I have heard of a third but it escapes me at this time, maybe some will chime in.

Manual brakes. People use single cylinder and dual cylinder set-ups.

Now my opinion is that for a street car, Hydro-boost is the way to go. I tried manual and just did not like the feel or stopping distance I was getting using the stock 944 MC, as RH recommended. So I put the Ford HB in and really like it. It will put your face int he glass when you need it.

Hope this helps.

  • * Yes the push rod has to be modified.
    * Cut off the circular part and thread it at 3/8 - 24 for the clevis.
    * Leave as much of the flat area on the rod as you can.
    * Use a grinder to reduce the push rod to 3/8, it is slightly larger. Makes the threading go so much easier.
    * Now use vice grips to hold the push rod in place while you thread.
    * Thread down to the vice grips and then move them to the other side of the die. Continue to thread all the way down.
    * Leave the die on the rod and cut off more of the flat area if you need to, now reverse the die and repair the threads you messed up cutting.
    * You will need a Clevis, Cotter pin, safety clip and Jam Nut if you do not have your stock ones.

    Good luck
