For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

steering shaft question
I have seen mention of maintaining the clocking of the steering shaft while adding the length for the spacers, on the car I bought the PO had started to lengthen the shaft but started out by cutting it. I have no way to tell where it should be clocked from on end to the other, does anyone have info on this subject that they could share ? With a splined shaft does it really matter, the only thing I think it would get you is access to the bolts with out having to turn the wheels, is there more to it ? It is a 1986 turbo if that matters......
Thanks for any help,
Jim

Re: steering shaft question
ya, there is more to it than that. If it's not "clocked" properly, it'll bind and jam up. The u-joints have to be indexed from each other. just use a original one as a reference.
