For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.

The sunroof cable goes from the drivers side trunk well up near the quarter window and then covered by a vinyled covering. Its really quite straight forward to replace but you may try and make sure the cable is actually the problem due to the price of the cable itself being nearly $400 new. Shocked

Im not sure what year 944 you have nor am I sure of the problem youre having with the sunroof. Is it not going up/down, getting stuck, unresponsive to the switch, etc.

Try explaining the problem a bit more in detail and state the things youve tried, hear, smell, etc. Then we may be able to help a bit more. Very Happy

The sunroof cable im referring to is the drive cable it has broke and will not drive the gears in turn will not push the geared lifters which also will not lift my sunroof or lock it in place making it very annoying that i have to crack my window when driving or my sunroof waves at the vehicle behind me. My question was just has anyone replaced this and how tough is the procedure? I tore it apart before and im not exactley sure how to get the pulled leather out of the way i dont want to cut it.

Thank you

Does anyone know where i can get some info on how to change the sunroof cable. All i can find are the old style sunroof repair right ups. I have an 88 944 and the sunroof motor runs but nothing happens in any of the the settings. I replaced the gears but need to replace the cable and happen to have an extra. I checked rennlist and 944 online but no info on late 944s. Im ure someone on here has dealt with this. Thanks.

Ok nevermind i tore it all apart the cable was just completely out of the motor so i set it back in and pushed the raise button. The cable fed all the way through then i put my new gears in and already broke one grrrrrrr! so i will order some more.
