HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Bouncing Voltage Gauge Empty Bouncing Voltage Gauge

Post  87944turbo Wed Feb 06, 2019 6:50 am

Recently installed a LS1 in my 1987 944 turbo and immediately noticed the voltage gauge bouncing. Never an issue with this gauge in the past. I have done some reading online, but haven't found a ton of info on this issue. With the engine running, I am reading ~14.45 Volts at the battery terminals. Any suggestions other than checking all the grounds?

I'd check the wiring connector at the voltage regulator and continuity through the harness of those wires. I had that bouncing needle issue on an old Blazer and it was a broken wire near the regulator.

I think you were on the right track. I did some research and went ahead and had mine rebuilt as a 1 wire alternator. I think the regulator was shot and the gauge was showing the A/C output of the alternator. All good now, comes on at idle and charges solid at ~ 14.6V.
