HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

GTO LS1 Capability
Anyone put the GTO LS1 in a 944? Accessories look nearly the same as the F-Body with the exception of what appears to be a power-steering reservoir? Also heard over on rennlist that since the GTO PS pump is speed controlled that it may be a better match for the 944, any confirmation?
Thanks,

Re: GTO LS1 Capability
I spoke with turn one about the power steering pump and they said the GTO power steering pump would work fine with the Porsche rack and hydroboost. I have a 2004 GTO engine, the only accessory that has to be changed is the A/C compressor for a F-body because the GTO compressor has side entry lines. The BCM controls one of the fan speeds so you have to get the ECU tuned to turn on one of the ports to run that fan speed, if you use the GTO ECU. Other than that it is all the same.

Re: GTO LS1 Capability
GTO engine is a nice choice; LS6 intake, LS6 block, LS6 PCV.
I opted to go with the f-body pump from Turn1 because it was a proven setup with the Ford Hydroboost combo. Steering effort feels fine to me; not over or under assisted.
I would personally ditch the GTO ECU (PCM) and the engine harness. Sell them both on LS1 Tech and buy a 411 PCM and standalone harness from PSI. If you go this route, you can also sell the GTO alternator and go with an f-body one. The wire connectors are different between the two.

Re: GTO LS1 Capability
If it comes with the ECU and harness I would get it if you plan on making your own. An afternoon with alldata, wirecutters and soldering iron can save you the cost of buying a custom harness. The ECU has to be programmed anyway so the port for the fan can be turned on. The alternator is a two wire hookup one to the battery and one to the Porsche harness.

Another One
Found another one for $1750 with no harness or PCM.
I figure I'll be at about $2000 after harness and PCM which is my price limit
