HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Hi
I am very close to finishing but my 944 water temperature gauge is going into the red.
The engine doesn't seem hot so could there be some incompatibility between the sensor and the gauge.
Also where would you say the temparature sensor should be fitted?

Passenger side cylinder head at rear, use a VDO 323421 sender with a Metric to SAE adapter.
The sender has a 3/8" by 18 thread.

Since you have a LT1; use VDO 323421. No adapter needed. Are you sure the engine is bled correctly? Mine usally sits just above halfway and doesn't go any higher.

Also, do you have any type of scanning software to see what the actual engine temp is? I use datamaster on mine. You have to buy a special plug and cable to be able to plug the cars ECU into your laptop.

Hi, thanks for your prompt replies.
So the sensor for the gauge is the one near the rear of the head? The one iin the water pump is for the PCM - yes?
Here is a photo of the sensor fitted. I beliveve it was supplied by RH although I imported it many years ago before they did LS kits.

I didn't realise you were in the UK, I'm from B'ham but now a Yankee.
When I said Passenger side I meant USA Passenger and I assumed you were using a LS1 engine.
Hope you can afford the petrol for your conversion......LOL

I have mine on the driver side (left hand side) at the front of the head. The one in the water pump is for the ECU

Yes I'm 20 miles south of Birmingham near Stratford-upon-Avon.

The 948 will be my weekend and show toy so fuel which is now around 115 pence a litre (£5.22 a gallon) shouln't be too much of an issue.

With regard to my temperature gauge problem I think I will need to get the electrician to run some tests.

You need a scanner to see whats actually going on in the ECU. I've got a LT1

Just to be sure, is my coolant gauge temperature sensor fitted in the right place for a 1995 Corvette LT1?

Might be in a different location on a corvette motor. I'm not sure... The LT1 motors i've had have been in the left side head.

I'm sure the gauge sensor is in the right place, we just need to check the electrician has wired the right sensor to the right place.
