HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LT Swap Questions
Well it's been about a year's work off and on so far but I finally left The Jack Stand Club of America and got my engine in the car and the car on the ground. The engine is from a 93 Z28 and the car is an 85.5. Now that I got the engine in I'm finally ready to start thinking about all of the other parts of the swap.
Namely, I'm looking for information about running an Astrovan Hydroboost unit with the LT power steering pump and the Porsche rack. I've already modified the booster to mount to the cereal bowl and I've got the Porsche master bolted up to the booster as well. My question is mainly regarding the plumbing. Has anyone ran this setup before?
Beyond the power steering my other question is about the cooling. Is the factory radiator really capable of cooling an LT1?
Additionally I'd like to say that I'm happy to finally be posting instead of lurking, and thanks in advance for any help.

Re: LT Swap Questions
I've been running with the factory radiator for 5-ish years now with no issues...car runs exactly where it is supposed to temperature wise and I've never had a problem...a little extra cooling can't hurt though, and I've wanted to at least upgrade to a 944 turbo radiator for a while now, just haven't had the time or money haha!
In terms of power steering/brakes, no idea, don't have either...good luck!

Hmmmmmm. Interesting that the factory radiator works. Having the F-body radiator sitting next to the Porsche unit doesn't instill a lot of confidence.
What did you do for your exhaust?

Re: LT Swap Questions
The stock rad works for me in the PA/NJ climate, but only barely in the dead of summer when in traffic (I am only a few miles north from bluehellfire666). Summer in Orlando might be challenging. I have added a second radiator in the nose and now see no issues even with AC. You could also look at a thicker radiator, like the one from HMR. I had one but it cracked, and at $600 plus I was not looking to buy another. I now have the following:
951 Rad (Was an HMR 951 rad, but it failed)
Stock 951 6 blade fans and shroud.
Radiator is tilted forward ~ 7 degrees to allow room for fans
Secondary cooling system, in inter-cooler location
H valve
Universal AC core in original location
Stock Oil cooler
Exhaust is Sanderson shorties (I have custom mid-length headers to install), 2.5" downpipes in to Y-pipe then 3" all the way out. Magnaflow cat and Magnaflow muffler.

For my exhaust I took 2 patriot tight tuck shorty headers and cut the collectors off of them, welding 3 inch mandrel bent tubing to them to send them where I needed them to go. I took the two 3 inchers coming down from the headers and built a custom x pipe, running the dual 3's all the way out to two flowmaster 50 series delta flow mufflers.

I'm a noob on the site. I'm picking up an 87 S with a Renegade LT1 swap this weekend. It was the car that was on Craigs in Aberdeen MD about a month ago. It has a stock 94 Camaro LT1 engine. The swap was done by the previous owner who was a machinist by trade. I want to plan on building the motor to around 400HP/400fp. I would like to talk to you about your swap and possibly stop over since we live fairly close to each other. Are you up for it?

Absolutely man!! I saw that car on Craigslist and was tempted to pick up another one lol...I'm going LS next though.
Where are you located? I'm down in Bowie, just off of 301/50 (near the Baysox Stadium if you are familiar). Reaper (as I call my 948) is currently down for paint/body work and it needs new clutch hydraulics (which I have just haven't had enough time to put in LOL) But I'm planning on having her back up and running this Spring!!
Hit me up at Two40-393-3TwoTwo4 or [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] if you want to get together some time man!
