HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Can't open the hatch on my '89 951 with the key
Porsche uses a microswitch here, instead of the mechanical linkage the older cars use.
I've replaced the microswitch yesterday and much to my dismay, it still doesn't work. Doesn't seem like that harness is getting power.
I know the motor is good and everything there works as the interior hatch release button works.
Besides Fuse #1 are there any other fuses that energize that circuit? I've deleted the factory alarm, would that have something to do with this?

Re: Can't open the hatch on my '89 951 with the key
Ok, to close the loop here's what I found out.
On the later cars like mine, with the microswitch on the rear hatch key lock, power to that harness goes through the alarm ECU.
So if you remove the alarm ECU, like I did, you can't open the rear hatch with the key, as that circuit is no longer getting power.
Clark Garage has an alarm wiring bypass procedure, but it's only for the Early cars, not the late cars like mine.
Upshot is I bought a used alarm ecu from Lart to put back in, hopefully that gets everything working again.
