HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

No start issue.
My car wont start. It was running, I shut it off, and After I re hooked up the electric booster to the fuse box it wont start. It turns over, but wont fire up. The only thing I did was pull up on the fuse and relay panel to make sure the wires were tight for the electric pump. What could I have screwed up? HELP!

When you turn the car on (but don't crank it), does the fuel pump run for a couple seconds then shut off?

Not sure. I will check as soon as I get home from work. I don't think it is though.

If you don't hear the pump, you have no fuel. I would check for broken wire, blown fuse, or loose relay. Check voltage coming from ECM to fuel pump relay.

I hear a whine under the dash but isnt the pump in the tank?

I would hope the pump is next to the tank and not in the tank. You should hear the pump toward the rear of the car in any case. Suggest locating the pump and connecting a multimeter to it. You should see voltage briefly after turning the key (but not starting it)

Re: No start issue.
So I plugged in my HP tuner and computer to see if I could locate an issue, and the car started. WTF? Any ideas of what could have happened?

Dunno - maybe you had some sort of issue that connecting to the ODBII cleared

I have no idea what that is, or means. I bought this car already built by a guy named Mike at German Performance. Every time I dig into this thing I find something new.
I just found what vats is and I do think that maybe that was my issue. I just have no idea how I fixed it. LOL

Vehicle anti theft programming. IIRC, SSP wiring said they deleted it from my ECM.

Since you HPTunrs it is very easy delete VATS. Go to system, general, then security, it should look like this

Just keep in mind that if the GM ECM is getting power from the old Porsche ECM relay, it is a POS and can be further complicated by the factory alarm if there is one. Bypassing the alarm and factory relay should be mandatory or it'll leave you stranded at the wrong time, never fails.

Mine is an 85.5 car with the alarm and using the schematic, I came up with this..... Clark's garage also has a jumper wire alarm delete procedure...

Re: No start issue.
Bringing up this old thread because I'm suddenly having a no start issue with no fuel to the rail. (Gauged it). Also I tried a new GM fuel relay.
I have noticed a few times that upon acceleration it's been sputtering at higher rpm's, and it did do it earlier today before I started to do a little work.
All I did was remove the cruise control.... That wouldn't do it would it?
Anyway, I finish the pulling of the cc and it won't start. It is on the GM FUEL relay, and I don't here the fuel pump spinning up at all when I turn the key. Any suggestions? Would the pump just completely go out like that with no noise at all?
I should also mention it's the original pump. I'm probably going to just order a new warbro392 anyway, but if that's not it I'm perplexed.

When you connect battery power to the pump directly, does it work?
