HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

XSchop "Bigger Blacks" on Cayenne 330mm rotor adapters
I have a few adapters on hand for another 13" Cayenne rotor swap. The calipers are from a 2003 Audi S8 and are essentially Brembo Ferrari F50 calipers (44x40mm pistons)
I put these on an early 928 and they are better than the Big Reds and Big Blacks with larger pistons and bigger bodies as well as bigger pads. So they go great with the 13" (330mm) Cayenne rotors as well. Here I have them mocked up to 87-up NA spindles/hubs.....Again NA spindles/hubs only, an adapter for 951 spindles WILL NOT work.
You'll need 4ea 7/16-14 x 4.0" allen head bolts...
Adapters and Cayenne centering rings are $245 shipped Priority US-48..... Just PM

Absolutely going to do these! Looking forward to receiving them and I'll get photos posted soon after!
Re: XSchop "Bigger Blacks" on Cayenne 330mm rotor adapters
XSchop: These brakes are AMAZING! Car stops on a dime now! Thank you a million!
Re: XSchop "Bigger Blacks" on Cayenne 330mm rotor adapters
Well car is back at the shop, after about 20 minutes of driving either the front or rear (or both) brakes stop the car all on its own. Not sure why but if this was the original 4 cyl there would be no way it would be able to even move down the road. Anxious for them to find the problem!
- New wilwoods in the rear
- Rebuild calipers as per xschop in the front
- Wilwood 260-7563 master cyl

Re: XSchop "Bigger Blacks" on Cayenne 330mm rotor adapters
Is there a cheap place to get the calipers? Refurbs maybe?
Cheapest I have found is $289 per caliper which is a bit steep for me, otherwise I would be interested.
Is there a noticeable difference between these and the lexus calipers that would justify the extra $500?

Did you determine the problem? I'm guessing preload on the MC?

Re: XSchop "Bigger Blacks" on Cayenne 330mm rotor adapters
I'm not even seeing a full set on Parts Geek but that's likely due to the fact that its refurbished parts and they don't have a consistent stock.
You wouldn't happen to have part numbers would you?

Re: XSchop "Bigger Blacks" on Cayenne 330mm rotor adapters
I replied Royale, welcome aboard.
I remembered reading about many issues with Wilwood's 1" brake tandem MC not having enough stroke and that adusting the push rod out too far will cause your brakes to lock up because hydraulic fluid can not return due to the return ports in the MC being blocked. This same phenomenon happens on old MC's that have their small "spooge" holes clogged by debris. Also IMO, the clutch hydraulics on our swaps should be seperate because the moly grease from the C5 concentric bearing makes it's way back to the shared reservoirs.

Still waiting to hear the results, but I am also out of town so I can't say if they have resolved it yet or not.

Caliper part numbers are 141.33063 and 141.33064
They are ~260$ a piece.
I am definitely planning to go this route on my 87 NA when the time comes. I am also stoked on these rotors http://www.racingbrake.com/Two-piece-rotor-Open-Slot-FRONT-CAYENNE-04-3-p/2293.htm

Can I ask where you found them for $260/pc?
I can't seem to find them for under $320 and most charge a core fee of $100+ if you don't have a core.

Those rotors are cool, but for $1K - ouch! OEM rotors are <$100 each, and have proven pretty durable. The weight savings is nice, but only about 5lbs.

The $260 calipers on Autoplicity are fake.
They don't actually have them in stock and will cancel your order after a week or so once they realize they can't get them from the manufacturer for that price.
The hunt begins again...

I don't visit malwarelist often, but check in to my favorite chop site here. I made a few extra sets of these a couple weeks ago at a hybrider's request, and have two sets ready to go.
It's Christmas and Santa says let them go for $220 shipped US-48 only.
PayPal to
robmott@cox.net
I'll get them out Priority

Looks like Santa will be at the post office tomorrow mean muggin the line lol. I'll get them packed with the centering rings.
Don't forget the chamfer on the rings face the hubs not the wheels.

Re: XSchop "Bigger Blacks" on Cayenne 330mm rotor adapters
so worth it! I currently have just Wilwood 260-8794 master cyl with manual brakes. ITS NOT ENOUGH.
Kind of want to do electric brake booster from the 1986 Buick Regal, but also considering other options. Since I don't have power steering (nor a pump) at the moment my options are open.
Thoughts?

Re: XSchop "Bigger Blacks" on Cayenne 330mm rotor adapters
Apple, If I were you, I would plumb in the Mustang hyroboost and keep its larger MC because your new calipers have larger pistons. Most folks on here use the Mustang booster and adapt the factory 944 MC because they have the smaller factory calipers.

only 2003?
Anyone know if there are any differences in the calipers between S8 model years? Some of us who are cheap may try getting calipers from junkyars/car-part....
