For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

how much to cut cross member?
Hi all,
I'm about to install my crossmember to the motor for the first time. The motor is just about finished and still on the stand. The crossmember isn't even close to fitting over the oilpan. Are there any photos of crossmembers that have been trimmed on line, I couldn't find any? Have I done something wrong? Just getting going with this swap, I'm sure I'll have more questions!

It's pretty easy to get the motor mounts reversed, left one on the right side. It can seem correct but makes the oil pan come nowhere near fitting.

Re: how much to cut cross member?
Anyone have pictures of how they cut the crossmember for oil pan clearance? Also, any shots of the mounts installed would be cool too.
Thanks

I will try to find a picture, but I did not cut my cross member at all, I actually clearanced my oil pan. I don't think anyone around here is clearancing the cross member, but I could be wrong.

They aren't perfect pics of just the pan and mounts but they should help.

Not sure you can see much but I can't find any better photos of the mount

The right side of the photo is cut off so you need to save it to your PC and then it should be full size.

the top of the rack mount is all I know of being cut down some to get clearance in this area. Others have placed spacers under the TPC mounts to get the clearance. I have a power rack and cut down some on this mount but I don't have it in the car to provide positive testimony. I think I will still be looking at adding 1/4" spacers but then there is the need to watch for the hood clearance to throttle body.
Have fun and enjoy
