For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I'M NOT AN EXPERT. DOES ANYONE KNOW THAT ENGINE? WILL IT WORK IN THE 944? AND DO I NEED A DIFFERENT RADIATOR, MINE DOESNT WORK WELL AS IS WITH THE STOCK ENGINE, ALWAYS AT ABOUT 3/4 ON THE GAUGE AND IT GETS TO MAX SOMETIMES UP HILLS OR STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THE CAR IS ON ITS LAST LEG AND I'M ABOUT TO DO WHATEVER I HAVE TO SO I CAN DRIVE IT FOR 20 MORE YEARS.

That's basically a chevy 350. Most people are doing an LS Swap. So LS1/LS2/LS3/LS6. They started the LS series engines around 1999. I am not sure if Eric is making swap kits for the older style 350's.

WHAT ENGINE IS THIS?

Post  944boonemobile on Wed Mar 26, 2014 8:26 pm

yeah, i knew the basic 350. i just didnt know if that was from the LT series or what. So the conversion kits on here (bellhousings, adapters, etc) might work with this? I was trying to keep it to a low 300HP so the torque was low and i could still use the stock torque and transaxle for a year or two until i can replace that if even needed.

I'm trying to understand this forum, is this not the right section? The engine I'm looking at is just a Small Block Chevy (I was pretty sure, but didn't know if was a LT series.) If I'm converting my 944 to this small block, which section should I use?

It's in the correct section now because I moved it here from the Member Conversions area. The members section is reserved for people who wish to introduce themselves, their car and their plans as well as update their thread as the conversion progresses. Other than that, all posts have a particular section.

As always, please feel free to create your own thread in the "944hybrids Member Conversions" section and introduce yourself!

Besides that, the engine you posted looks to be designed for pre-1976 applications and so is just a standard 350 (non-LTx based). However, since the LT and standard 350 share the same mountings (bellhousing and motor mounts), all the conversion parts that work with the LT conversion will work with the standard 350. As far as I know, no one is making a "kit" for the LT engines anymore...you would have to contact texas performance concepts to see what your options may be.
