HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Geo metro booster/MC

Post  Jasonscottw on Sat Mar 01, 2014 9:45 pm

Anyone ever used a booster/MC from a geo metro?
I understand they are the smallest unit ever put into a production car.
I think the booster diameter is under 5". I'm unsure of the length but it's pretty stubby.
Anyone?

That could be an option! I like it! What do you think Eric?

Tempted to buy one and try it.
Pretty cheap at U-pick yards.

Wish I knew how much available space there was available in the booster/MC area
with the LS installed . . . my engine is still on a stand.

Anyone?

Not positive yet. I believe the diameter of the booster is 7", and with MC it protrudes 9" from the firewall.
Those are just guestimates based on pics.
I cannot find a diagram.
A hot rod buddy of mine who uses them all the time says the diameter is only 5",
but I'm skeptical.
I'm on the hunt for real measurements.

It would be good to know how wide it is. I will take some measurements when I get home.

It would be great news if the driver's side LS head cleared this booster...that space is really tight...please let us know.

Will do.
Booster is definitely 7" diameter, about 2" thick. Also used on Suzuki Swifts. Do not know length of whole unit with MC yet.
Two front brake lines, one rear.

I guess the question now is whether a 7" x 2" booster "bowl" will even fit-

i find this post very intriguing; can't wait to see if some others can verify a test fit or swap some dimension data here. fingers crossed on a home run here but any brake expertise that can weigh in on what this geo metro or suzuki swift presents for bore and stroke of master cylinder compared to what is desired and such? or am i still stuck in manual brakes land here as well as the clutch threads i have read tonnes on.

forgive me in advance.

Geo metro bore is 13/16, haven't figured out what the stroke is yet-

Whoa . . . That is snug. Didn't realize it was that tight. Doesn't seem like there is a chance of anything fitting.

I picked up a booster for $15 so might still take a stab at it when I get the engine in.
Maybe I could recess/french the booster into the firewall.

What about a remote booster?

Thanks 944-LT1 for the pic, exactly what I was trying to find out-

I'm running a remote vacuum booster. The initial boost isn't nearly as smooth and takes a little getting used to, but they work fine and certainly give a boost. You have to find a place to mount them as they're quite large. My car is a track car so many street going parts are removed freeing up space

Maybe this should be in a new or existing thread,
but what about the hanging/swing wilwood pedal assembly w/dual MC?
In searches I've found info on the bottom mount assemblies, which seem like a headache because of seat issues and steering wheel extensions, but nothing about the hanging systems-

My firewall mounted Wilwood clutch master cylinder is set up and functioning well, so I'm only considering the brake pedal assembly.

Also, Power Brake Service has some pretty amazing hydroboost systems and
explanations of why the electric boosters aren't so great.
Anyone specifically used their Hydroboost set ups?

Manual dual wilwood? Hanging assembly? Remote booster? Hydroboost? I know the specifics of most of these have been covered in the forum, but am I missing any other options? Has anyone tried mounting a mini booster behind the firewall?

Thats all been talked about.  We were just looking for something boosted that is smaller than the hydroboost unit. And not the manual wildwood stuff. The electric boosted stuff sucks terribly.

Too bad...about 4.75" diameter would be cutting very close.

What about the geo master mounted onto one of the right angle booster brackets?
It might fit over the clutch master if the cluster of wiring was moved a bit.
