For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Canton Racing LS1 Bellhousing Flywheel Cover

Post  pormgb on Sun Jan 26, 2014 7:38 pm

For quite a while I have been trying to find a the cover that protects the lower opening of the two piece Bellhousing. While browsing the other day, I found one made by Canton, the product description states it only fits  T56 Transmission F-Body Bellhousing but it fits the Corvette two piece unit. I got mine on Friday and just installed it, it fits perfectly.

Canton Racing LS1 Bellhousing Flywheel Cover

Post  Tehone on Mon Jan 27, 2014 10:51 pm

Great find cheers

I have been looking for this cover. Thank-you, thank-you.

What I came across was an old school style plate that fits between the back of the engine and fly wheel, Engine Plate - LS1 - Steel - part # RM-6007. This is a 1/8" thick plate. I haven't installed it yet so I can't give up any additional information on fitment or possible issues.

It's pretty simple, If you install the motor plate between the bell housing and motor , you will add 1/8" of distance to the clutch assembly which means there is a good chance ( a very strong chance) that your throw out bearing will not move far enough to disengage the Pressure plate.
The Canton plate looks to be the best solution for covering the open area.

That's what I was also thinking too. I'm not real excited to install the plate, then install the engine, only to find out the throw out bearing wont disengage the clutch.

Maybe I'll throw the dice and see what happens and then tell the story. I'm going to purchase a Canton cover anyway.
