HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Here's the v6 cougar fans on the rad. The fans fit perfectly on the Summit radiator #SUM-380645. The hoses might be a tight squeeze though. We'll see what happens when I go to put the hoses on. There's about an 1/8" between the outlet and the fan housing. The mustang guys say they flow 3400cfm.

What are the depth of those fans?
I dremeled the area around the top inlet hose on the NA fans even and the fan bridge to get more hose clearance. Also are you going to reweld the inlet or remove the hood latch arch? Or tilt forward?

I haven't looked at how I'm going to mount it yet. Do you have any suggestions? What rad are you using?
The only reason I chose this one is because the manual says it requires minimal modifications to the stock support braces.
Here's a 2d cad drawing of the fans.

Can someone tell me what is at 7 o'clock on the edge by the left fan.
I have a Griffin rad and that's where a pipe exits the tank. Can I remove material from the shroud
in that area?

I can tell you in the spring although, Im sure that doesnt help you now. Sorry, my car is covered under 8" of snow right now and all wrapped up in a tarp. But from the picutres it looks like it would fit. You'd have to cut out that temperture sensor thing though.

Its a resistor
The part in question is the Cooling Fan Dropping Resistor for the factory low speed fan controller. It is a 0.4 ohm solid wire resistor that heats up as power is applied to the fans. It is placed in the air stream of the fans simply to cool itself off so it doesn’t burn up.

V6 Fans.
Great info thanks, I won't need the dropper as I plan to wire the fans to ECU and use series'parallel relays to get the low and high speed.
Seems this fan unit is a good price and sized right for the radiators specified in Sloan's manual.

I made some brackets (top and bottom) that hold both the rad and the fan together.

Yep, I've had them running for a year... I'm running them from the ECU with the 3 relay setup.

I went to the junkyard for mine. The fan fits tightly in the old opening. I cut the old brackets along the side of the car off.

Having issues getting these fans to fit. I have the RH/RD radiator and these fans appear to be too deep to fit without hitting my water pump pulley, etc, etc.
How are you guys getting these to fit?

I went and bought them and didn't get them to fit either. I ended up with 2 11 or 12 inch very high cfm be cool fans that work really well.

Hey Spence,
What year of cougar (v-6) did the fans come off of? I am just getting to this part of my build and was concerned about cooling.
Thanks for the info,
George
