Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

few laps at Hallett
My first shakedown event of the season was at heartland park topeka (hpt). First session broke the ring gear. It was an old beat down ex racecar, so trans failure was expected. Sourced another transaxle to borrow for a bit, then the alternator voltage regulator gave out. Got a reman and a 470ohm resistor . Last session out, all the axle bolts to the right outside hub sheared off!
I upgraded to an S2 transaxle with a quaife and had a nice trouble free 160 mile weekend at Hallett in OK. Here's some in-car and front bumper mount laps with a GT3RS and ZR1:

I think the GT3RS was about out of tire, and I only caught the ZR1 on his cool down lap, that guy was a good driver and hard to keep up with in other sessions!

Nice video! Where did you mount the camera to get the 'ground' shot?

Very smooth driving. How is the car set-up, did you change it much from when it was a 4 cylinder?

Re: few laps at Hallett
I have a camera mount in the LH fog light cut out for the go pro
Suspension wise, I'm running exactly the same setup that I had with the 4cly. I'm about 150lbs lighter than before the swap; lost the headlights, AC system, heater core, ect. I added a front splitter and a gurney flap to the rear spoiler. Hallett isn't really a high speed track so I'm not sure if the aero helped. Sure felt good!

Very nice. Love how relaxed you are, like you're driving to the grocery store.
Oh, and I love the look of your car. ;-)

Man i have been trying to get there for two years now, just never seem to get it all tied down for the track. I have watched alot of races ther, sure looks fun even for a short low speed course.
Nice driving, next time you want to go hit me up im not too far away.

I might have missed it, could you detail your suspension setup?

I'll be back at Hallett in early september then again in early october. Maybe another event before then, not positive.
I'm running the Bilstein escort cup coilovers using the rear springs as helpers, racers edge front control arms, weltmeister sways
here's a pic with the little splitter:

Re: few laps at Hallett
Nice driving! Really smooth, no coasting.
Thought I knew every crack in the track from racing R6s out there…until your "Bumper Cam". We used to get "air" off the back hill. Not something you would do in a car - but you did everything else! That is some wicked camera work! Of course it helps that you are passing everything in your class….bet they hated to see you on the sign up sheet!
Thanks for letting me relive the track - at speed!
