HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Embarrassed to ask this but I need help please..
So I;m starting off my conversion on my 85.5 NA 944 and the least of my worries was to pull the stock motor out since I've pulled many motors in the past (never a 944's) .I first started with the idea that i'll pull the motor from the top but that didn't work to well so I drop the subframe unbolted the TT, bellhousing bolts , Presure plate hardware through the starter hole, took off the slave and the engine wont release at all!The only thing left is the clutch fork shaft but I snapped a bolt in there while trying to take it out.I tried punching it out through the inspection hole without success. In theory with the pressure plate hardware removed it should come apart but it does not.
Any Ideas guys?????

In the pictures you can see that there's ample room between the block and bh+ the tip of the TT is free. So what in the world is holding it in??When I shake the motor and pull it I feel like there's something holding it back I just don't know what it is.

Easy. remove the radiator, remove the lower radiator support (4 bolts), unbolt the bellhousing at the torque tube, not off the engine, Slide motor forward, down and out. Then worry about getting the bellhousing off with the motor on the ground. You do not need to unbolt any of the clutch fork shaft, etc stuff to slide off the torque tube. The bellhousing will not come off the engine with the clutch shaft still installed.

Right, the bellhousing isn't easy to get off the engine. There's some pin in the clutch fork that keep it all trapped together. But as Porschedoc said, loosen the 4 bolts between the bellhousing and the torque tube and it all comes out together. And yeah, going out the bottom is easier.

Yeah, like Rich is pointing out, take those 4 bolts out and slide the engine forward. The shaft of the torque tube sticks out 7 inches past that flange with the 4 bolts so you'll need at least that much movement forward.
