Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

See anything wrong with this picture? it is the bottom end of my ls1 that will be going in my 944. forged pistons, forged rods. the rightside is the front of the engine also. I did not assemble the short block, machine shop did all the machine work and assembled it.

Hard to really tell anything from the picture, but looks OK from what I can see.
What company's rods/pistons did you go with? What's your target HP?

Main caps are mixed-up... all backwards it seems.
Below is a picture of what they should be like....

you win!

they put the number one main in backwards. luckily my brother has done it to his before and he caught it. when i picked it up a couple months ago the guy told me its really hard to turn over. well no $#** when u dont put it together correctly. everything is ok now since we took them all off and inspected and retorqured.

I cant remember what brand parts i went with since i got them last summer and had it assembled back in sept. my target is about 500hp. it will be broken in and dynoed before install. i have to start looking into turbo's here pretty soon too

See somethn wrong? Empty caps

If this was line bored with the caps this way, it will have to be redone. What kind of a machine shop is this. Caps should be # etc. They are not a place for future work.

no they didnt line bored it. yeah if anybody takes their ls based moter to a machine shop MAKE sure they have worked with them before. my brother had a problem with a shop that didnt resize the big end on the rods after arp bolts were installed... spun bearings., those crack style rods have to be resized with the arp bolts in them.

i guess these shops think these motors are like the old school 350s..
this is what i have in this build so far.

1.forged rods and pistons
2. heads from an escalade.. lq4? lower comp for a forced induction
3. 60lb ford motorsport injectors
3. melling oil pump
4. ZR1 cam.. perfect for a forced induction setup and was only $115

once i get it all together ill post pix and will have it dynoed. Probably wont have the turbos on it when dynoed tho.
