HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LS1 or LS3??? Need input please
I'm a long time 951 owner but new to the conversion world. I envy the work and knowledge you guys put in your cars and sharing the info on here. I currently have an ls1/ls6 from a 2004 GTO with about 80K miles, solid clean engine with all accessories plus harness, just no computer yet. I've been collecting parts, got the engine for 1900, and just received another $1000 worth of cam, springs, updated timing set etc from TSP. My question is; I just found out a friend of a friend has an LS3, says it has everything but the computer that he's selling for $2500. This seems like something too good to pass up if the engine is legit on close physical inspection. Would you guys go through all the trouble to "upgrade" to the LS3 and sell the ls1? Will my TPC mounts and oil pan fit the ls3( I know that's a good question for them but I'll have to wait till after Christmas to ask). Any info and advice is very, very much appreciated.

Stock 350HP vs 430HP, since it is a friend of a friend, will you learn more about the LS3's condition vs the LS1? For 600 bucks difference, I'd go for the LS3. But that is just me, and I own the same model LS1 you bought.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I just found out about it so I've got a lot more investigating to do on the LS3. Its what I'm leaning toward if it is as good and complete in person as it sounds. It would also be the cheaper option if I got a decent amount for my current ls1 and were able to return/sell the TSP parts I just got.

Everything (pan, uprights..etc) will work on the LS3. I agree for an extra few hundred bucks i would go with the LS3, it basically puts out stock what a mild cam LS1 puts out.

Re: LS1 or LS3??? Need input please
Went and checked it out over the weekend. Turns out its an L92 with the truck intake and vvt. Still tempting but I think I'm gonna pass since I would need to put additional money into making it the LS3 I was hoping for, mainly a cam to get the higher rpm power I would want. It will be easier to just stick with the ls1 I've got now. Anyone in the north Texas area looking for an L92 this guy lives in Canton and I can give more details if interested.
