HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Well after several weeks of distractions, I finally got to spend some time on the body kit. I ended up cutting the bumper cover off becuase the license plate 'dent' was hitting the bumper. No matter what I did, I could not get the bumper cover to fit properly so I ended up installing the kit without the bumper. I curse the person who rearends me! But the kit looks beautiful. Now I have to work on the nose!!

Update - slowly working on the front of the car. Got the 944 Carerra header panel, but I guess Porsche no longer makes the screens for the porrts. Came up with my own solution by placing an order to McMaster-Carr and picked up some perforated metal and bonded it to the header panel.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Guess the trick to making this look good is aligning the pattern. I plan on painting them flat black.

Test fitting of the hood - nice to know that I got it right the first time!! Will have to re-run the MAF wiring. It's preventing the hood from coming down fully. Believe it or not, this is the first time the hood has been on the car since the removal of the Porsche engine.

I am currently waiting on fog lamps - they should be in on Monday. That's when I go to work on the front spoiler.

Hot damn... looks like it will look very good when painted or even primed!

You have it running?

P.S. I like the way you made the rear bumper area look; very modern.

I 'had' it painted - that was until the widebody bug bit me. Oh yeah it runs!! I was hoping to have it on the road before the end of summer, then I got distracted. I'm glad I got the kit - I can now run the 12" rims in the rear like I always dreamed of. I am currently waiting on a replacement hatch like this one - the GT-Racing one that I have now sucks! The IFC Racing one has hinges and all of the fittings that will allow me to basically just screw it on. (unlike the GT_Racing one)

This will finish off the rear. I am really looking forward to getting the foglights so I can get to work on the front spoiler. Thanks for the compliment - recognition from the 'old crew', such as yourself, makes all of this worthwhile.

Big Thanks to Skywalker. Those pics of the brackets did the trick. I machined a solid steel bracket to bumper dimension 2.375" out from the 944 body. This put the edge of the rear bumper out exactly 1" after install. This changes the look of the rear nicely and that aftermarket rear bumper cover fits right on......

See?? I knew a big time machinist such as yourself could figure something out from a couple blurry shots of a part laying on a ruler! Laughing Great job!! Those work for the front too!! One thing though - if the bumper cover has a license plate indentation (like mine), there is still not going to be enough clearance with the Porsche bumper.

Razz

Get the mounting position for the late 944S, and you could use the factory end caps. S rear bumper is close to the same distance, using SMS of course...

placing my order...

OK, my track car will need a set of these....can I then shave and inch from the top and bottom of the bumper? I'd like to toss the extra weight from the bumper shocks.

It's more to bring the bumper in closer to the body, than changing the height (if I understand your question correctly) - and yes, you'll shave weight from the shocks. Just don't bump into anything!!

The fiber glass euro bumper that I am coping fits tight to the rear of the car without all the extra work, and the rear bumper has 2 fiber glass 90* brackets that save the extra weight. Again you would not want to be hit or hit anyone with it, because there is no crash protection there.

Foglights came in. These are the 85mm Hella units I picked up from buyautotruckaccessories.com for a paltry $37.95 a piece (vs. $50 and up at other places)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I am planning on mounting these in the front spoiler - two on each side.

This is coming from a guy with a sig of "Twice the horsepower, twice the fun"? Laughing
I just want to be able to see deer in the next county before they run out and try
to commit suicide on my non-steel fontend. Besides - thats a lot of empty space
up there to fill, and I wanted a different look.

Wait a second skywalker01 (little off topic), what wheels do you have on your 948? Those rear wheels look wide and pretty good (just watched your video of your -around the block- run)?

P.S. Like the yellow hose... you need some yellow zip-ties as well. Very Happy

I did that just for you guys Very Happy The wheels that you see are the stock cookie-cutters. I have 2"
spacers on the rear. Will probably take the plunge and go with 11x17 in the rear and 9.5x17 in the front. I think I'll need it to fill the fender wells
