HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

There was a thread started on PH about radiators, and "applebit" said he had ordered a Griffin 1-26201-X from Summit. He hasn't posted his experience with it yet, and I don't see his userID here on this board.

Anyone have any opinions on it?

I am going to help Vorsche944 put his car together, Although we are going to start in 2 weeks it will be a few before we will know that his Summit purchased radiator works for the stock LS1 conversion. Hopefully he will chime in on the part number he purchased. We will let you know how well it works. Just have to be patient.

Whats your plan for the rad's filler neck/cap? Are you going to retain the 944 coolant reservoir? Alot of rad shops around here would cut that out and weld a plate over it for less than 30 bucks! I hope this solution works...would help alot of people!

Just for some additional info, Stealth Conversions uses an 82-85 Camaro radiator on their 240Z conversions (338 sq. in.) even with modified engines. They claim that they have never had any cooling issues with it.

tetzuoe, the problem you may have with the 3 row radiator is getting enough air flow through it. If you cannot, the radiator will not cool as well as any of the others. The 3 cores will increase the coolant flow but low air flow will kill the cooling effect. If you try that radiator i would suggest you only use the Taurus fan. If you can get enough air flow that radiator will be oversized ---not a bad thing if you keep the a/c.

I agree with what v8carreragts said, I believe we had a pretty lengthy topic post on PH about this.
What he said about the air flow was the concern, I personally have the Ford Taurus fan on my car.

right, with that rad Id be likley to put some kind of good fan in there, Ill have the dual speed 2 fan setup and possibly forgo the tauraus fan for something stronger.
No AC in the setup, though I think ill keep that one open for expansion If I feel so inclined.
I was mostly just concerned about the fitment.

couples things for me...

1 the ford taurus/ SHO fan is more fan than can cover the stock size rad and the CFM is plenty!

If you go with one of the aftermarket rads like from summit, it has a filler cap on the top side. ZDoes everyone cut out the stock top area? this is where the stock hood latch is.

Also seems like the rad will ether sit lower or higher so what have some of you other guys done related to rad support/ frame? Post some pictures!

Mine sits lower with stock top intact. I have crude frome lower support that I want to redesign.

Plus a single pass less than 2" core I believe is not enough? because the overall sixe is very limited due to the Porsche frames, you need something thicker anyway? When talking "cooling capacity" you are talking total core square area. length x width x thickness.

Also slightly off topic, Im interested in what others have done related to External Oil coolers.

Here's what I did. I haven't mounted the condensers yet but they will pull air separately from the radiator and I plan on mounting the oil cooler just like it is mounted on a Carrera GT. I may have a picture of the mounting somewhere.

the condenser picture looks like it has some kind of frame in from of the rad? Did you make that too?

As you know the other issue is making sure all the are goes thru the rad not around it!

The Radiator is sealed to the sides and top. It will be also ducted to the GTS bumper. The condensers will be placed on each side behind and below the driving lights, also ducted to the GTS bumper and they will exhaust into the wheel wells.

Ok, I finally got the radiator in the Vorsche 944 car. I had to have the Radiator cap removed and filled in. I made custom mounts that did not lower the radiator in the car at all.
