HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Today was dyno day!
I'm kinda excited about finally being able to dyno my car so I thought share the results. The dyno used is a newer Dynojet all-wheel drive dyno. Pretty cool, this is the first 4-wheel dyno I've seen. The owner says the Subie WRX guys come from all around to get their cars dynoed.
I pulled 374.5 hp, 357.6 trq and 377.7 hp, 361.4 trq. Run conditions were 76 deg F and 30% humidity. The torque curve was pretty flat with nice peak in the 4k - 5k rpm range. I did not go past 6k rpm so there is a chance there were a few more ponies in there but I'm happy with my results.
Motor: 2002 LS1, with LS6 intake, EPS 226/230-113 LSA Cam and refreshed heads, lifters, oil pump, etc, etc. Long tube 1, 3/4 primary headers, 3" single stainless mandrel bent exhaust with Vibrant resonator and muffler (straight through, no baffles), Tuned by Frost and standard K&N intake behind the drivers headlight - nothing fancy.
Happy motoring.

Awesome #'s, my goals are between 350-375whp with basically the same exact cam and other mods, only difference is i am going to go with a dual 2.5" exhaust.
What fuel pump and injectors are you running?

Thanks guys.
@ Techno - I'm running the stock 951 pump and stock LS1 injectors. I sent the injectors to Cruzin Performance to have them cleaned and flow tested before reinstalling them, that's it.

Re: Today was dyno day!
Hmm, thought you would've made more power with the long tube headers.

Doc I think you run the same cam as I do so I assume you have dynoed higher with short tubes correct? What kind of numbers does your motor make? Are there any other differences in our respective set ups that would account for your higher numbers?
Also keep in mind that the HP curve was still rising at 6k rpm where I stopped. I assume there were a few more peak HP left on the table so to speak. That does not bother me since I dont spend much time @ 6500 rpm anyway because the torque is falling at that rpm.

Re: Today was dyno day!
I made 373rwhp with S&P 1 5/8" short tube headers, LS6 intake manifold and the same cam as you. I'm about to install a FAST 92 intake manifold and throttle body plus a set of 1.7/8" long tube headers with a 3" collector. I'm hoping to make well over 400rwhp with those.

Re: Today was dyno day!
Those are good numbers no doubt! Who knows what the difference could be attributed to; different dynos, different tune, exhaust design, etc. I dont know enough about how LSXs respond to various mods to have a good sense of where I could make a few more ponies. The good news is its just a number anyway and so far I'm happy with the performance of my swap.
Good luck with your modifications it sounds like your car will be a beast when you're done. Keep us posted please.

Re: Today was dyno day!
I'm hoping it will be! I've noticed a large difference in power #'s between what the camaro guys are making and us. The main difference appears to be the headers, they're running large long tube headers and for the most part we aren't.
I'm hoping the set I'm putting on will narrow that gap...

Re: Today was dyno day!
Throw on a set of ported (maybe even stock!) 243 heads and 400whp shouldnt be a problem
Gotta love these motors.. 375whp with essentially just a cam and long tubes. I think that will be more than enough for me, but the option for another 25-30whp is always there with just swapping out the heads.

Re: Today was dyno day!
My point is the Camaro guys are already seeing over 400rwhp with just a cam and long tubes, while we're not for some reason...

they get a few percentage points boost from having a solid rear axle - slightly less power losses in that setup compared to our IRS.docwyte wrote:My point is the Camaro guys are already seeing over 400rwhp with just a cam and long tubes, while we're not for some reason...

Re: Today was dyno day!
The camaros also weight 500+ lbs more. At some point it's just a number. No sense losing ground clearance and emptying your wallet to add another 25hp, if you ask me.

Re: Today was dyno day!
If you have the RH or TPC long tubes already I agree. If you have the S&P headers I do think they're worth changing, as they choke the heck out of the motor. I'll dyno my new setup soon and post up the numbers...

Oh! I forgot you didn't have the "usual" headers. Let us know how it goes!
