HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Fuel filter install?

Post  docwyte on Fri Sep 28, 2012 12:16 pm

So I've got Eric's fuel filter kit and I'm trying to install it. I'm having a little difficulty wrapping my head around where I pick up the return line for the fuel filter. Also, I got pictures from Eric showing one thing for the feed off the fuel pump, but he put the lines on the filter in another port.

Does the single port off the LS fuel filter go up to the feed for the fuel rail, or is it the feed from the fuel pump?

For the two ports off the other side of the LS fuel filter, where do I route them? Does it matter which I use as a return? Where do I grab the return line on the 944?

Okay, a little poking around and I think Admin's photo is correct. Here's one link of many on the subject.

As for the return to the tank, cut the other hard line, the one that doesn't lead to the engine, and tap into the tank side of it.

Thanks guys! Had some real drama today, as I was pulling the car out of the garage I got a little more than halfway and the car died. I saw some smoke waft up from the hood and thought WTF! I hopped out of the car, opened the hood and the car was on FIRE!

Luckily I had a fire extinguisher in my garage nearby so I was able to get the fire out quickly. Some insulation on the wiring loom got crisped and there's some meltage here and there. One vacuum line melted through, but that was a quick repair. Turns out the fuel feed line to the fuel rail had popped off.

Ironic as that's part of what I was replacing with this new fuel filter kit. Rolling Eyes I put that back on, cleaned up the huge mess the extinguisher had made, crossed my fingers and turned the key. Thankfully it fired right up. I'm just about done with the install of the new fuel filter, just need to do the fuel return, secure the fuel filter, pressurize the system to check for leaks, then button the car back up.
