HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

How to wire up my new radiator fan?
Going from the OEM radiator and fans to the Ron Davis radiator and electric fan. Right now I think my car is wired to have the Camaro PCM trigger the fans and I want to keep it that way.
Beyond installing the OEM fan switch into the radiator bung, where do I wire up the fans power and ground?

Re: How to wire up my new radiator fan?
Doc,
There must be a relay somewhere between the PCM and the OE Fans. You should be able to use the same relay to power the new radiator.
I scrapped the whole thing in favor of a dash switch so I can control when the fan works. It doesn't help at speed, in fact it impedes air flow. So it works if I'm stuck on the grid and after the session.

Re: How to wire up my new radiator fan?
Hmmm, wonder if that's been part of my problem with temps on track. The radiator fans have been running the entire time I've been on track. You're saying I'd get better flow if they stayed off while on track and then I popped them on when I came back to the pits?
All I should need to do is run the power and ground from my new fan over to that relay, correct? Wonder if I should run the ground to an easily accessible place so I can pull it in grid, then reconnect it after the session when I get back to pit...

Doc,
Does this radiator have a shroud around the fan? If so get rid of it as it will only restrict flow....
And yes, as marc a pointed out, having the fans on at speeds above ~30mph will impede the flow of air.
If the GM PCM is controlling the fans it should be set to shut off at speed; this speed is adjustable with tuning software.

New rad fan doesn't have a shroud. My current oem fans do have one. I'll wire it so I can pull the ground before I head out on track.

Doc,
Make sure that all the air hitting the front openings is channeled through the radiator by sealing top, bottom and sides. I didn't get my temps down until that was done.

I do have the ducting in place, but need to check and make sure it's sealed.
This radiator dwarfs the oem one, easily twice as thick and it's taller as well. I really hope it can control the temps, it'd be nice to keep things at 230 or below...

This was stupidly easy. All I did was plug it into my old fan wiring harness and that was that...
