For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

I'm in st. louis. The engine in my '88 924S died this weekend so i'm trying to figure out if I should convert or rebuild.

Here's an old quote...

I notice that first gear is pretty much useless; it's geared so low that as soon as I let the clutch out, it's time to shift...even with a stock motor, this thing has all kinds of steam. There's power everywhere on the pedal. I love it. It more than met my expectations.

If there was a kit and a single list of parts that are known to work I'd hit the "buy it now" button. All these options and unknowns are what get me. Looks like I have a lot of research to do. I do have a line on a fresh LS1 block.

Allen Park Michigan here.
And their is a kit for the LS1 that a company (Renegade hybrids)makes and sells, though personally I wouldn't recommend them. But they do not sell a kit per their website nor do they recommend putting a LS1 in a 924. They sell the kits for the 944's.
I believe their maybe a partial kit or maybe it is becomming a full kit comming from one the members here and would personally would buy from them before RH.

I've got a 944S engine complete from top to bottom including the DME that I'd sell.

The 87, 88 924s is the same as a 944 without the big fenders and cool interior. I'm from St. Louis, MO as well. Are you on rennlist by any chance? What color is your car.

I am on rennlist. the car is black, but it hasn't been on the road much since I got it last Nov (total POS). Did you end up doing a conversion?
