HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

LS9 ZR1 CLUTCH SETUP??
Hey everybody,
I was removing the harness and booster setup from my 951 this past weekend and a buddy of mine with a Z06 came by to lend a hand. He is pushing 540 rwhp and is about to go to a factory ZR1 setup instead of a SPEC or something of the like. Since the ZR1 is rated well over 500 hp and has the feel of a factory clutch and pressure of a factory clutch my wheels began turning. Anybody think there would be any hitch in going with this setup on our conversions?? I'm in the beginning of researching it just wanted to put it out there for those of you that have completed your conversion and played with other setups.

Re: LS9 ZR1 CLUTCH SETUP??
Man, im with you. I really wanted to try this. But, I did some research on that before I went with the LS7 setup. There are many custom "ZR1" type kits available to bolt up to pre-2009 (ls1/GTO) flywheels. This is required because the factory GM LS9 ZR1 clutch flywheel only bolts to the LS9 crank. Regardless of that, there were three other main problems; 1) cost was well above 1K and still is, 2) You would have to find a clutch house that could make custom clutch hubs that replicates the intricacies of the stock hub as well as with the 21x1" spline...and then make it all work together....safely, and 3) the LS7 clutch holds 550rwhp and is much cheaper.
At that point I thought, "All this just to say I have a twin disc clutch and it can handle 700hp!" Not bloody likely! (in my best british accent) If Im at a point that requires a clutch holding over >600hp, Im either spending too much money and/or Im not in a 944!

Re: LS9 ZR1 CLUTCH SETUP??
Well that answers all my questions about the ZR1 What's the pressure like for "everyday" driving on the LS7 clutch setup? Also, what is the cost and difficulty of setting it up vs. just getting like a SPEC stage 1 or 2? I think I'm going to be looking at around 400-425 at the wheels and just want to have the perfect setup for the hp and for driving it in traffic if need be.

The Twin disc Bellhousing is 0.75" deeper IIRC. Someone here posted pics. That will be an issue with TT shaft insertion. But Maybe a longer pilot adapter is the remedy. Also the TT shaft splines might not extend enough towards the front disc hub?
