HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Re: firewall plate
I have never made a firewall plate that included the Clutch MC area. The plate has to be angle inset or you'll frag the MC quick as it will bind at the plunger seat.

So does anyone make a proper plate, or am i back to doing it myself. Does anyone have a firewall that i could get so i can deal with the issue at hand.

Re: firewall plate
I really don't know if the plate is really a solution to the problem, as the stress will be relocated to the weld along the wheel well (where I have a crack)

Re: firewall plate
A firewall plate and a brace to the strut tower would be the fix-all.

Re: firewall plate
Koklen made a clutch MC brace that fit over the mounting studs with a rod over to the strut tower. The mount on the strut tower bolted to the shock mounting screws.

I think the best solution is to find that section of the firewall and have it duplicated with the proper angles for the two slave cyliders. Use a 1/16" plate, drill a series of holes to allow spot welding to the middle areas of the plate and stitch weld the perimeter, so as to try and avoid stress cracks. So who has a wrecked 944 i could buy that section of fire wall from or does anybody have the template for the one i see here all the time. I think it could be modified to allow both slaves to sit correct. Just throwing it out there. Thanks all.

Plate
While you are doing this, please design a plate that allows a Mustang hyroboost to be used. I will buy one if someone will make them.
PS I'm using Sloan's plate which covers the brake and the clutch portions of the firewall. It is bolted and bonded to the firewall, I'm using spacer washers to angle the brake master cylinder but the stock clutch MC fits flush with the plate.

So, could we mill a proper firewall plate from alum with the proper angles for the two slaves, and then bolt and bond. What kind of bracket do we need to incorp to allow Hydoboost. Can some one supply a pic. This is something i want to put on my car aswell. I like power brakes.

I am not sure of any of the bolt patterns, we need to find out all and maybe a universal adapter can be made.I think if i could find a proper template as my car will not work for this, i could have a wedges milled to set proper angle for both slaves for a cheaper method and for those who have plates, and have a plate milled to duplicate the factory firewall bond and bolt, just need the info.

Re: firewall plate
I just had the plate copied today and will have the computer file that was used to cut the plate tomorrow. PM me if you want the file. Shop says anyone using a laser cutter or waterjet should be able to use the file.

R,
You posted a picture of your brace at one point, and I can't seem to find it. Can you repost it or point me to the right thread.
Thanks!!

Re: firewall plate
Heres all the pictures of the plates that the forum seems to have left. The first is of the brake master reinforcement plate and the second is of the brake and clutch master reinforcement plate.

Re: firewall plate
.with my tall valve covers the only master that looks like it will fit is the wilwood 250 -7563. the resivor on the stock style master interferes with the valve covers .the ls style motors look like they have a little more room in that area . was more interested in sombody running a lt1 with a manual brake setup to see how they have it mounted .remote res seems to be my only choice . i know you are running an ls3 in yours now but you did have an lt1 when you first built it.with stock short valve covers my original porsche master cleared the valve covers but my new motor has tall ones to clear stud girdle and roller rockers.i recently got one of xshops firewall brake master plates and im in process of installing it and have experimented with a couple different master cyl but they dont fit in that small space . almost looks like it needs to move a little towards where clutch master goes.which i dont use because its an automatic. i do very much thank you for your feedback as it was helpful
