HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.
Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin
For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.
When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).
After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

For 4-5 grand, he could have scooped the hood and stuck a blower on top.
No really, i agree. I would have just put a small whipple on there and called it a day. I think some of them can even fit under the stock hood!
A rear-mount turbo would be pretty nice, too. I haven't been keeping up with "the scene" much lately, but it sounds like (from rennlist) there are going to be a few n/a 500hp 944's. I'm curious to see how the drivetrain holds up--and i hope i'm wrong about how i'm guessing it's going to hold up

Yea. I am definately gonna talk to him about cam setups. Anybody using a BBK, FAST, or other intake configs besides a LS6?

I believe the LS6 intakes only becoming a restriction after about 450rwhp (though i'm sure at 425 or so, y ou'd probably still gain a few horsepower by switching). IMO, i'd leave that for last. Port your throttle body, put a good CAI on it, maybe an LS6 MAF (or remove the screen from your ls1 maf), cam, exhaust, done.

The LS6's 5-wire MAF with built-in IAT is 85mm. The 3-wire MAF on the early LS1 is 75mm.

I was just looking on ebay, there were a few around $60. You have to rewire a little (IAT is in the MAF on the ls6). Plenty of aftermarket options, too.
You will have to re-tune if you swap MAFs.

Oh, you have to re-tune? Dang. My ls1 is a '99, PCM was tuned by the shop that rebuilt the engine. I'd guess they tuned with the stock LS1 3-wire MAF but I don't know for sure. I was gonna use the 5-wire just because packaging of the IAT is easier. But I would like to use their tune, at least initially.

Yeah, the LS6 has totally different MAF tables: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I wouldn't worry about it. On a ~400hp car the stock LS1 maf isn't going to cost you hardly anything, powerwise. More than that and you might want to worry about upgrading.

I saw a few wiring harnesses on ebay as well.

I'm not sure what you do about the IAT with that one, though. My guess is you'd want to search around a little more and find one that splits the ls6 maf connector into the two separate pigtails found on the ls1.

the guy at EPS knows his $#**. I spoke to him on the phone when i ordered my cam and my mind was blown. I'm tempted to bring my car to him for a tune just to see if he can knock out a couple more HP.

Those were my thoughts as well. He is pretty sharp. I had a buddy swap a LS1 into a RX7 and he did the tuning of it as well as his WS6. I have been told by several people that he is the "go to" guy with LSx stuff. Where are you located?

Cool. Yea I'm just north of Jackson, MS. Bout 2 1/2 hrs away from BTR. Talked to Geoff today and I just bought a LS6 intake for $310 shipped due to his tuning advice. Prob gonna go with his 226/230 cam package as well. He stated that 400 rwhp is achievable with that set up and a good set of ported and polished 241s.
