HOW TO DO AN ADVANCED SEARCH.

Mon Jul 08, 2013 3:56 pm by Admin

For the benefit of 944Hybrids users there are two search functions available for you to use.
The purpose of this sticky is to explain the "Advanced Search" function because it is much more powerful and is the best choice when researching information.

When you log on to the site a list of options is shown in a line at the top of the page. One option is labelled "Search", use this option (NOT the search box lower down on the right).

After you click on the upper search option, a drop down box appears. At the bottom of this box is a radio button marked "Advanced …

Boosted brake, cool design

Post by Lemming on Mon Mar 05, 2012 8:19 am

I was not the only 944LS at Barber Motorsports this weekend. I friend from ATL had a shop install a crate LS3 into his really nice 951. I should have taken a bunch of pics as it is a fantastic build. What really caught my eye is the boosted brake system. Have a look Shocked

I wonder if a wilwood tandem MC would work in place of that bendix type MC.

Maybe, if you see him again and he's inclined to help others, you could ask him if he made any records or drawings of the brackets he made. Razz

Owner is a really nice guy, but he had a shop build it. My guess is that they will be happy to sell you anything you may need.

That is a sweet looking setup. I studied pictures of a similar arrangement on an e30 race car with a BMW V8 engine. Any idea where the clutch master is located? And the car is blue, how nice. More pictures of the car in general would be great next time you see it.

BTW, Tim, I dig your 3-piece crossmember. Is that the Lindsay unit or did you do it? Any issues with it not holding up?

I thought the same thing but you can just see it under the bracketry in its normal position.

Rich

Bought off another board for $100. Guy had bought it from someone else and used it on his turbo car, he was not sure of the origin (Lindsey, homemade???). Turns out that it was pretty much butchered when I got it, a chunk had been cut out to clear something on the turbo. I put it on but in the end pulled it off before I ever used it. Just didn't trust it because of the hack job. It is now collecting dust in my garage along with other items bough sight unseen Embarassed

Ah! There it is. The braided line is a bit of a give-away, eh?

That's too bad. I hear ya on buying extra parts. I went from hydroboosted brakes and power steering to manual both. I could sink a row boat with all these parts that aren't going on the car after all.

Rich,

Don't waste your time on the 3 piece crossmember. They do not hold up. My car came with one and it cracked on both ends of the center piece where the plates were welded on each end and several of the ears on the plates cracked as well.

The Shop who figured out this brake set up is Classic Designs in Athens, Ga. 706 354 6700. Rich Dean
This is his first conversion but has a couple more pending and he made drawings for use on subsequent jobs. My guess is he would be willing to make some or all the pieces if anyone needs them.

If it was me, I'd move the fuse box to where the battery is and move the battery to the rear.... I really like this setup.

I'd love to try this.... After a little digging I found that a MGB vacuum booster has the same bolt pattern as the willwood master I have. I wonder if it would fit in the same location?

Fuse box location

Post by hbay on Sun Mar 11, 2012 1:12 pm

Mike, This a track only car so we removed all the old wireing. The GM fuse box is under the dash passenger side and the battery is a light weight AGM mounted on the passenger floor. The only Porsche wireing left is the brake lights and windshield wipers.
